yup, because there is absolutely no more offensive talent left in the draft.....
Take a trip over to Wikipedia. Look briefly at round number two in each year from 1998 to 2007. In those ten years, count how many first line NHL forwards you find in all of those 2nd rounds combined. It's about six to eight, depending how liberal you are in considering first line player. Roughly seven guys out of roughly 300 guys. About 2%. Try again and look for legit 2nd liners. Even if you count guys like Vermette and Stoll (who are clearly third liners, by anyone's judgement) the numbers aren't much better. I'd run about a 90% chance of NOT finding a top six NHL forward in that 2nd round. At least 90% but probably greater.
Elias Lindholm is my third ranked forward in the draft, and I expect him to be a first line NHL forward.
The Blue Jackets are proud to select, with the 13th pick overall, Frederick Gauthier from the Rimouski Oceanic!
We anticipate Gauthier being a cornerstone of our organization for years to come, and expect big things from him.
The Blue Jackets are proud to select, with the 14th pick overall, Bo Horvat from the London Knights!
We are very excited about Bo's potential standing on our team and are looking forward to when he will be on our lineup.
