I'd trade for Jagr in a heartbeat. He is still better than anyone on our team not named "Pavel."

Yes, he is having a down year, but even with that Valtteri's great year, Fleischmann has had better seasons. His market value is good and if Valtteri demanding +5M, I just rather let him walk and go with Nyquist at TOP6.

Of course, Fleischmann is having NMC/partial NTC so getting him is easier said than done.

BTW, Carolina lost one defenceman (Pitkänen) again at last night.

Time to send Ian White to save that franchise?

Maybe last year was just an "up" year for Filppula?

I woke up with the suspicion that Holland plans to re-sign Flip to a long term deal.

Of the names being tossed around I'd love Gaborik but my guess is the price tag is a little more than Kenny is willing to pay. I'd be satisfied with one of Hemsky, Stafford, or Ribiero. I think at this point I'd be happy with Ray Whitney just to get Gator or Miller out of the top six.

I love people's ideas of trading Filppula and then trading for guys like Fleishmann, Stafford, etc. Talk about latteral moves. We should only trade Filppula if we are either going to end up with a upgrade, not the same cap hit and production. IMO, if we are pushing to make the playoffs, we don't trade Filppula at all. Even if we end up losing him for nothing.

This is more offseason and deadline combined but wouldnt mind something like this.

It would take a lot but I wouldnt mind seeing us try and get a Couterier. I know it would cost us a lot but it would be good for us. Its the type of move that lands us a guy who will be a legit top 6 Center and has size and he's only 20. He then is allowed to be groomed by Z and Datsyuk and is a true successor and if Jarnkrok turns into a stud its a bonus.

I dont know what it would take but assuming we Send Nyquist, Smith with Picks + Prospects or something like that.

Z, Datsyuk, FA signing(Stafford maybe)
Franzen, Couterier, Brunner
Tatar, Helm, Andersson
Abs, Emmerton, Tootoo

Eaves, Cleary, Sammy and Bert gone. Resign Miller for that depth spot. We have Center flexibility with Helm, Andersson and Emmerton with Jarnkrok and Sheahan available to come up if there are injuries.

Kronwall, FA Signing or trade for Robidas/Similar as a stop gap
Ericsson, Cola/Quincey
Dekeyeser, Kindl

Would love to buy out Franzen but obviously that's never happening.

Thats only one big trade and a couple of signings which I think makes us competitive, tough and physical but also set up for the future where our team can grow.

I will be shocked if we pull anything significant off today.. someone will be moved for a mid round pick (spin the winged-wheel of depth and it lands on Eaves/Colaiacovo) . Then the "getting healthy is the best trade we made" war-chant begins as we stumble into the playoffs in 7th or 8th place.

What I'd like to see? A goal-scoring winger, but I don't get my hopes up with the deadline after the last few seasons.

I don't think it would be lateral. We have playmakers. We don't have shooters/scorers. Our top six and our top forward prospects aren't versatile enough as it stands. We could use a swap of smallish skilled playmakers for shooters with size.

I doubt they are looking to move him but I would like the wings to kick the tires on Michael Ryder. I wanted him when he was a FA. Seems to me he would solve a lot of top 6 problems with his shot and RH'ness. Not sure what they would ask for him, probably too much but whatever.

I guess it is something we could consider during free agency if the Habs don't re-sign him and we ship out some redundant parts(Cola, Quincey, White, Eaves, Miller, Mursak, Cleary,Emmerton, Bertuzzi, Sammy............................................. .................)

That's something we shouldn't do unless we feel like we are a strong contender. We are not.

Really surprised we haven't moved White yet. Is there no interest?

I think it's the only move we make anyways

Probably a slim market but Rangers are looking for a right-handed shot, preferably someone who can play the powerplay. Makes sense in my head.

I forgot the Habs had him mid-post haha....at any rate, it would be someone I would look at in the offseason.

I could understand for Filp. Maybe Holland thinks he is part of our core and he can re-sign him. White we should definitely trade though. We have no spot for him anyway

TSN saying Goligoski could be available?

I don't think we would have to give up a ton for him, plus his contract isn't bad. I would kick the tires on that one.

I'm not against re-signing Flip, I think he is just having a bad year. For 5M+ no thanks. Would go no higher than 4.25 for 4 years. Slightly higher than what Hudler got in Calgary.
