Just curious. What would you give for him? The Flyers are cooked, and I could see them moving him.

If this has already been posted, whoops.

He'd get quite the hefty return I imagine. Top 4 dman that can play big minutes, big body, goes in beast mode during playoffs, limited offensive production though. I'd expect ATLEAST a return of what Kaberle got when he was dealt at the deadline, arguably more, since Coburn is better. 1st, a solid defensive prospect, and ???

Compared to what Murray got, Coburn should cost a ton. By no means is he a number 1 dman but he is more than proven in the playoffs and has played at an elite level defensively in the '08,'10,'12 playoffs. Not to mention he is in his prime years and signed for the next few years at a decent cap hit.

Flyers would probably expect late 1st+top prospect.

The Habs have too many PMD and need more size and toughness. The Flyers need a PMD.

seems to be a match here somewhere...

Pretty sure the Flyers are looking to upgrade their defence, not deplete it even further. That said Coburn is having a bad year (along with everyone not named Voracek or Simmonds on the team) but would still have quite a bit of value...moreso to the Flyers.

and this PMD whould be? and no, we have no interest in Diaz

We don't make good trading partners simply because you won't offer the only PMD we would have interest in (Subban), and I don't blame you

Can he play the right side?

He sort of scares me though. He's one of those D-men that looks to have peaked in his early to mid twenties and then is on a steady decline into his 30's.

Like a Brendan Witt or a Jay McKee or a Rhett Warrener or a Mike Komisarek or a Scott Hannan or even a Robyn Regehr.

All these dudes were seen as real steady Dmen when they were mid 20's, then poof... it just sort of vanishes and they go from a top 4 guy to trying to find a spot as a #6/7 dman on a team.

he's still steady, his offense is just lesser than it was in his early days.

his problem here is that he's being relied upon to be a #1 and he's not a #1. he's a steady #2 or a #3 on a good defense. Still valuable, but just potentially more valuable to us in a trade, considering how horrendous our team defense has been anyway.

Could he play next to someone like Phaneuf?

I always thought Coburn is a better version of Gunnarsson on the Leafs, is that an inaccurate assessment?

If Pittsburg can fetch two number 2's for Murray. Coburn's return should be more.

Chemistry is something hard to predict (look no further than Nash - Richards - Gaborik this year vs Semin - Staal - Tlusty)

But with that said...

Coburn is very big, very mobile FOR HIS SIZE, good shut down guy, but a bit inconsistent and looks lost in the offensive zone.

I think he would be a good fit for Phaneuf.

I'd like him on the Avs but I think St-Louis is the best fit + they have the assets.

Stewart <-> Coburn

+/- picks/prospects from either side to round out the value

Liles + Blacker or Holzer + 2nd

Coburn is a good player but if someone trades for him, they'll be getting ripped off. That Murray trade just blew up the market for defencemen. Buyers won't be getting good value this year.

Patrick Wiercioch + 1st

For

Braydon Coburn

Wier is NHL ready and could develop into a 2nd pairing PP specialist.

Beaulieu + 2nd (not Calgary's) in 2013 for Coburn

Diaz + 2nd (Calgary's) in 2013 for Coburn.

Weber, Thrower, + 1st in 2013 for Coburn

Beaulieu + 1st + 3rd for Coburn + 2nd.

It all depends upon certain desires of the Flyers and what other teams offer.

No way. Which one is struggling? Age? I don't see Stewart being deal...Yet, at least.

You have enough guys with size that you shouldn't need Coburn at all.
