Coaches that were never fired?

How many coaches have there been in the NHL to never be fired at any point of their career? Have any coaches only ever changed teams when their contract expired? Or end up coaching the same team their entire NHL career? Scotty Bowman comes to mind but I'm young and really don't know his history all too well.

Al Arbour was the first to come to mind, Islanders fans can correct me though.

I know; they try to make it sound like they're are doing the coaches a favor by firing them.

I believe with the Sabres he was the gm/coach and stepped down as coach. Or something. An older fan (and Sabre fan) than me would need to verify that.

Yep, looks like Al Arbour retired in '86 after joining them in 73. Craziness.

Yup

Burke had taken over as GM and Babcock was already a coach and Burke offered him a 1 year deal, Mike decide to just move on since Burke really didn't want him but couldn't fire him without a reason.
