Nice GDT. Hopefully we can match the effort on the Ice.

Brilliant GDT!

Nicely done and I would add that in this amongst all the bad things going on right now in terms of hockey I actually appreciate being reminded that at least I'll be able to see our kids in the WC. I'm one of those Europeans who actually care a bit about it

The thread title is so accurate.

Hall and Ebs play phenomenally, while Scoobie doobie doo plays lights out at the WHC.

Everybody talks about how great the Oilers future is based on the performance of the core of the team at this meaningless tournament.

I believe there will be a loss tonight. Hopefully it is enough to encourage Tambo to do something before the trade deadline.

3-0 blues, they could score more but why bother, once the oilers get down 2-0 they will start trapping anyways and protect their 2 goal deficit.

Isnt the mandate no winning seasons until they are in the new arena? Would hate to spoil the grand opening by already being a contender in the old place. Only 4 more years boys.

I always thought that's Katz plan all along; once Arena is built/begins being built, he'll start chopping heads

Two most glaring issues with this tepid team (there are many) in my opinion:

1) Zero puck support. Literally none.
Too many time the Oilers lose pick battles because they are outmanned on the puck. Also on the odd chance we get the puck (in all 3 zones), no one gets open or gives an option to the puck carrier. After watching the LA/CHI game last night, this is painfully obvious.

2) No dmen that can move the puck up to the forwards in stride or skate it out on their own.
Not every team has a Drew Doughty but when the only play our D can make is rim the puck into the skates of our wingers or chip it off the glass for a giveaway, it's tough to create any chances. Leads to the majority of the game being played in our own zone.

Well that depends what kind of thing Tambo is inspired to do. If somehow he mistakenly believes that the Oilers need a piece to get into the playoffs then I'd rather he do nothing.

However if he realizes correctly that it's time to be sellers then I hope he moves out some UFA flotsam. Whitney should be gone soon. With Murray getting a 2nd round pick + conditional Whitney should clearly have some value. Belanger might be tempting for someone looking for C depth.

When it comes to bigger deals (Hemsky + for a top defender as an example) I don't expect those to happen until the draft.

As for tonight I can't imagine Belanger draws in. Smyth at centre again? Who is actually with the team right now to slot in. I guess Petrell was out yesterday...

If the Oilers players gave the effort that goes into these GDT we'd be undefeated.

GDTs have been HFSharks-worthy last few weeks.

Well done.

Also have to say: Blunderbore is pretty much what this game will be.

Hoping for a 3-2 "specialist" shootout win, but I'm prepared for the worst.
