Kyle Musselman(Sudbury) to be suspended?

Comple Bertuzzi job on Mark Mancari of the 67s tonight. Basically had a hold on Mancari from inside the Wolves blueline, and then Musselman gave Mancari a shot to the head just outside the 67s blueline.

He got 2 for roughing and a match penalty. It happened with 7 minutes left in the game.

I was at the game last night, unfortunately I didn't see exactly how he went down but the place went silent as he was lying motionless on his face for a good 2 minutes before he slowly started to move. I hate when players get away with something like this (Bertuzzi, Musselman). They deserve to get the crap beaten out of them. It's probably for Musselman's best interest that he's suspended because he'd have an entire team out for him tommorow.

He has been suspended.

From the OHL website:

Sudbury Kyle Musselman April 11 Indefinite T.B.A.

That's what Sportsnet or TSN said in their highlight package, so you may have just seen that. Of course, they were wrong. They also claimed it was Staubitz who came over to take on Stortini/Musselman, when in fact it was Bickell.

Stortini had already been sent to the dressing for an instigator penalty earlier in the 3rd period.

Gone for good from OHL. They will consider allowing him to play in some other league after Jaunary 1 2006 if requested. So I guess he moves to the Q or WHL.

Tough love, but a strong message. I agree.

I think the punishment was too harsh.

What a load of garbage... McQuaid gets a put out for the season and the clown gets nothing... not to say mussleman doesn't deserve the penalty (it was a terrible act), but that shot on McQuaid was pure garbage and had anything been called, mussleman wouldn't have done what he did.

I just saw a clip of it... holy over-reaction. I had heard that he had a big windup and came out of nowhere... pfft... hardly. He was side-by-side with him and gave him a half-punch to the face. If that's worthy of a permanant ban, then David Branch has his head so far up his ass it isn't even funny.

You say that as if it's news.....

Seriously though.... I don't have a problem with Musselman being expelled from the league, but I think the commissioner's office has to do a better job of making sure that a consistent suspension fits a particular crime.

Having said that, a repeat offender should receive a higher punishment than a first timer, but that doesn't happen consistently either.

I think the best punishment for him would have been to let him continue playing. Someone would eventually make him hurt.

But it makes me wonder why the guy who did the deed was allowed to skate off the ice..If it was my teammate lying on the ice, you can bet that the one who dished it out would suffer the same fate.

Why do you think the incident happened in the first place?

Mussleman was just getting revenge for the cheapshot McQuaid took earlier in the series.

No thats not why this happened if that was the case he could have got more if that is possible. If it was proven that this was a revenge he would have been in alot more trouble.

Yeah, that is exactly why it happened. McQuaid got put out for the season on a cheapshot, and Mussleman went out for revenge. The guy got over a year long suspension... how much more trouble could he have gotten into?

If it was proven that this was revenge criminal charges would have been pressed and musselman would have had a very nasty legal battle.Given the life time ban the polie are staying out of it.

Does anyone have vid of the incident. I thought being expelled from the league was pretty harsh. Kinda want to see what caused this.

Revenge on an innocent player in terms of McQuaid.

Musselmen should have got 60 games not a life time ban.If he was not a bad apple that is what he would have likely got.The fine is a good thing there is no way musselmen should have been out there at that time.I wish the fine was 20 grand really send a messege.
