As a whole I tend to agree with you, however, it does make sense to hope for "easier" match ups and hope your biggest competition gets tougher match ups early on.

For instance, if the Pens play a non-physical team or a team that's not going to tax them in the first round, while Boston plays a physical team that will go to war against them in the first round, then potentially they'll be beat up when we face them. It's kind of why I'm hoping the Bruins face the Leafs in round one. I think they'll beat them, but the Leafs will probably bruise them quite a bit.

I think it is funny that so many here are fearful of the Bruins, while fans of teams like the rangers are hoping to see them. Its all perspective, I guess....

Also, the way i see it this bomb rescheduling may just sink the bruins. they already were playing every other day until the end of the season. either they will have to play tommorrow, play a stretch of 3 games in 3 days, or play the day after the season is supposed to end... in any case they will now be the least rested team heading into the playoffs....

Flyers up 6-3 on the Habs in Montreal in the 3rd period. Boston was idle.

Magic Number = 6.

Boston = 6.
Montreal = 5.

Pens just need 3 wins to clinch now.

I sincerely hope that's not the case. I don't think they should suffer for something like that. Not that you were hoping for that or anything, but if they need to bump the start of the playoffs back a few days so be it.

The Isles have the offensive firepower to keep up with the Pens and if they get Pittsburgh into penalty trouble, they can wreak havoc on the PP.

The Sens have Anderson and he can CERTAINLY steal a series. If they get Karlsson and Spezza back too, that makes them a very dangerous team.

The Leafs have the offense and a very physical defense that can beat teams up.

The Bruins are still a more complete team than the Pens, IMO. They have offensive depth, a bruising defense, and a top 5 goalie.

The Caps are on fire right now and Ovie and Green are lighting it up every night. Their D and goaltending may be shaky but they have the offense to overpower anyone.

The Habs are a very potent team as well with good offense, great defense, and better than average goaltending.

The Jets may look the easiest to beat on paper, but they are far from being pushovers.

Don't know if it has been discussed yet but is anyone really care about getting the President's trophy? The last 4 years the President trophy winner hasn't won the Stanley cup and only 7/26 of all winners have!

This.

Don't fret over the President's Trophy. Let Chicago have it.

I'll take 7/26 odds. Sports club stats currently has the Pens at 17%.

Flyers could win themselves out of a top ten pick as well. That would be sad.

Agreed. I think ending up with the Cup over a quarter of the time is rather good!

and on the flip side, I don't think any team would be looking forward to playing the Pens in the playoffs. No team.

it's the playoffs, there are 16 teams and anything can and will happen.

Or inspire them. They're going to have that massive "Do it for Boston, and for all of the victims" solidarity vibe going.

I'll sharpie the Pens with a W over the Habs.

Magic Number: 4.

Pens can clinch home ice in Boston on Friday.

I think they are going to have a big game Friday. Can clinch 1st seed, can sweep Boston, Pens will probably try their best. It's going to be much tougher then tonights game IMO. It will be tougher because they are healthy and they have Jagr now. If Pens can beat them minus 4 top players, i'm gonna laugh.

I'd love Rangers/Isles to be kicked out and Jets/Sabres make the final 2 spots.

Pens/Sabres
Habs/Jets
Caps/Sens
Bruins/Leafs

I feel better about playing the Isles than Buffalo personally.

If Jokinen and Vitale aren't back by that game, we'd probably see Jeffrey and Trevor Smith in the lineup.

If they beat Boston in an important game like that with Trevor Smith playing, that'd be pretty impressive.
