Gives Columbus a great future 1 strong center in Eller ( a guy your GM drafted) either a young good player in dumont NHL capable or a solid top 9 guy in bourque and a serious blue chip D who would look insane next to Murray in a few years

For the habs we get backup for prust
2 solid picks most likely one in the 7-15 range and the other 13-20 range

I think that is great value for both teams
Eller strong? ok. A future no 1? I don't think so.

Why would you want to trade a number 1 centre and a quality top 3 winger by the way?

No we do NOT. Not a Chance in any demented drug induced nightmare you call a dream would, could, or should that happen.

An absolute impossibility from Montreal's perspective.

Holy ********** wow that was bad.

Florida gives you Tomas Fleischmann and other guys. Pick a veteran, any veteran.

We're not moving any of the 3 firsts. JD and Jarmo have pretty much said that.

While I do agree that the chances to see Eller becoming a no 1 center are very very low, Eller's strength in undeniable, he's strong on the puck, never gets pushed around and delivers solid hits.

3 of their remaining games come against teams currently below them in the standings. Two of those are back to back games this Thursday/Friday.

I believe CBJ has a chance themselves down the stretch to really move up into contention to a top 3 pick. They've played the most games in the league and 7 of the teams behind them could be past them within 4 games. Both the Rangers and Kings should finish midpack which will offer you mid to late round picks. You can only hope these picks end up as high as possible.

With that said, maybe there's a way to find another 1st Rounder at the deadline, or potentially even off load some of the guys helping you now, that are not in the long term plans, further helping move your own pick up.

If Columbus trades these picks they're doomed.

Not saying the Jackets should trade the picks, but never underestimate their ability to screw up draft choices.

No again. Eller and Beaulieu are both mid 1st rounders, turning out nicely. Why would we trade both of these knowns for 2 unknowns in the upcoming draft? Because "Its a deep draft"? GTFO.

to package all for a top 4 pick would be dumb.

This deep draft you will be getting players in the Rangers or kings slot that in other years would be top 10 quality picks.

they need to be rebuild by adding multiple players not just one.

Had this not been a deep draft then the package of picks to go up to a top 5 pick would be worth it.

Got to keep these picks in this draft. Given that your gm is a former scout you should be safe.

Maybe, but are there top line forwards who will be available around then? I'm skeptical. Beyond Mackinnon, Drouin, Barkov, Nichushkin, Lindholm, and Monahan I don't think so. Guys like Shinkaruk, Lazar, Domi, Erne, and others seem to be more in line with 2nd line forwards than top players.

Columbus has those. They have 2nd, 3rd, and 4th line forwards. What they are missing are 2 All-Star caliber forwards. If they can get definitely get one by trading up and drafting Mackinnon/Drouin, shouldn't they consider it?

Three first round picks in a supposedly deep draft. Hopefully the CBJ end up with something better then the Filatov's and Brule's. Their fans definitely deserve better.

Absolutely, would be a win-win to trade with Edmonton. Not sure if Tambo would know who to draft at #10-15 though.
