Thank you for all the memories Jarome, your are the best player that ever put on the Calgary Flames jersey, hopefully someday someone good as you can don the Calgary Flames Jersey. I will never forget the 2004 Stanley Cup run and your fight with Vincent Lecavalier(I watch it everyday). You go and win the cup in Pittsburgh Jarome and when you come back to the Calgary Flames, we will be rebuilded by then and we will win one here

Be thankful for what you had fellas. Iggy is one of the greatest Canadian hockey personalities and players we might ever see. What a smile.

I'm not a Pens booster but god I hope he wins the cup out there.
Iggy's a class act all the way - took him everything he had not to lose his **** at the end there but he maintained his composure. I was not so lucky.

Losing all my childhood heroes in the 90's was tough. This was 1000x tougher.

Greatest captain of this past decade. He earned respect on the ice and conducted himself with great character off of it. Always was a fan of Iginla from afar. Maybe he can finally get his first Cup next season when he signs to play for Sutter in LA

This. Maher just said what everyone was thinking. I was driving home from class, and it really got me too. I honestly hope he goes to Pitts, wins a cup and comes back here to finish his career.

I was writing a midterm (that I barely studied for because of the trade ), can I assume the presser is up on the Flames website or TSN.ca or somewhere?

I haven't cried since I was a very young man, including life's biggest challenges and some of the happiest moments one could have. But when I saw Iginla starting off into space reflecting on his time in Calgary, only to wipe an incoming tear, I almost choked right up. But my record still stands, lol.

A class act, and one of my favorite non-Canucks. I will never forget the respect he showed Linden during his last game.

Condolences to Calgary fans. I know what it's like to see the face of the franchise leave. I hope the return works out for you guys, and the rebuild starts in earnest, and it's not more than a few years before Calgary is back in the hunt for the division. You guys are great, passionate fans and deserve a winning team.

And now I must resume the obligatory hatred between our fanbases.

La Kings fan here,

I think my thoughts are echoed by most fans of hockey, but any young player coming up into and through the league need to be given a video tape of how Jerome Iginla conducts himself, both on and off the ice. A Canadian through and through, and true class act. He will be missed in Calgary.

That press conference really got to me, at one point he said "I think we..." then paused and corrected himself to say "the Flames still have a good team" that's when it really hit me. Being 21 and all, I don't know the Flames without Iginla on their team. I've been a fan since I was able to skate and that press conference today was harder for me to watch than game 7 of the 2004 SC playoffs. I wish I can go back to Sunday and relive that moment where Iginla scored his last goal as a Flame which also happened to be the game winner, had I known that was going to be the last memory i'd have of him, I would've cheered even louder. I wish nothing but the best for him and I could care less about the return we got at the moment, I just want him to win a damn cup and I don't think anyone can disagree that he deserves one more than anyone.

Last goal as a Flame was a game winner, all by himself in the offensive zone. I miss him already!

Now that I have time to be alone with myself, I keep watching Iggy stuff and god damn I'm sad.. Gonna be tough watching the flames while knowing Iginlas playing elsewhere... Honestly haven't been this down in quite a while.. This flames fan needs a beer.

Thanks for all the great years Jarome. You and Theo are my two favorite Flames of all time.

Your board play in your prime is almost unprecedented. I have never seen anyone dominant from the half boards to the corner like you.

My favorite Iggy moment (kind of surprising it isn't getting more press) is your performance in game 7, 2004 playoffs against the hated Canucks. I can still hear Darryl Sutter's press conference after that game where he said that was the most dominant performance he has seen by one player.

Beating the Canucks in 2004 is my favorite memory of the Iginla era.

I think it'd be worthwhile to create a separate thread just for Iginla's exploits as a Penguin. I suspect a lot of fans are going to be following his success there.

As a Canucks fan, I gotta send my respects to you guys. I can't picture Iggy with another team, so I understand all this (I cheer for the BC Lions, and we had to deal with this recently when Geroy Simon got traded. That was tough, I never thought that would ever happen. He was the franchise, just like Iggy and the Flames.). When a player means so much to another team, you have to appreciate that, no matter who you cheer for. You guys may be arch-rivals, but I got real respect for Flames fans, especially when you have to put up with all of this. And yes, I really hope Jarome can win his Cup (As long as my team is out, that is.).
