I am not trying to be a dick or anything but they said Iginla was given the 3 deals and asked which one he wanted to go to. At that point if he didn't pick Pitts I would question his IQ.

Others are saying this as well. My bad, I didn't mean to doubt you but the idea just sounded so absurd to me.

Does he come back here? Does he go somewhere else? Is it possible that there is a handshake agreement in place with Calgary that they'll compete again next year and he'll come back?

I'm just trying to justify this deal in my head right now. I have three options right now:

1. Iginla turned the tables on Feaster last minute and said Pittsburgh or bust (in which case, why does Feaster not wait an extra week and get Maata/Dumolin out of Pittsburgh). Or is it because Feaster feels backed into a hole because they sait Jaome tonight (thus making it necessary to trade Jarome immediately).

2. Iginla and the Flames have agreed that playoffs are attainable next year and he can come back and help Calgary but in the mean time he gets a shot with Pittsburgh while Calgary gets assets to ice a competitive team in the near future.

3. Organization from Edwards, King, Feaster, Weisbrod is inept.
Bingo.

Iginla left to win a cup. He won't come back until that happens.

And if Feaster and co. felt pressured to make a deal because they sat Iginla and were afraid of looking bad, that's just another indication of their incompetence.

"Yes, that's correct. Bartkowski. He's basically Bartschi and Jankowski put together... see?"

"My God... you're right. It's done; we'll announce it in the morning."

...time passes....

(phone rings)

"Feaster! Shero here. I heard something about you and Chiarelli making a trade around Bartkowski."

"Well, maybe. No comment."

"Well, I see Chiarelli's 'Bartkowski' and raise you 'Hankowski!'"

"But... Chiarelli told me Bartkowski is Bartschi and Jankowski put together! How could you possibly beat that?"

"Well, Hankowski is a college player, like Jankowski is. Plus, we'll even add in a guaranteed first-rounder! Not conditional! So you could go out and draft another Jankowski in the first round!"

"...consider it done."

This post is great.

In the end, a first is not too bad, right? Even if it's essentially a second, depending on how what kind of person you are.

It should also be noted that the Penguins play against the Jets tomorrow. Wonder if Iginla will draw in.

I am not a Flames fan (Oil Country - sorry) but I love Iginla. I'd have him on my team in a heartbeat. To have Iggy pick his spot is a class move by Feaster. Go Pens, I can finally cheer for Iggy and not feel bad...Flames get what they get, call it indebted servitude but Iggy deserves a Cup.

Doesn't that make it seem more plausible this is Calgary we are talking about.

If he's addressing the media at 10:30 it might be close. Is the game in Winnipeg?

Get over it. We got two prospects and a first round pick for a month+playoffs of 35yr old Iginla. He is a rental.. Seriously. What were people expecting. Get over it and let Iggy win his ****in cup.

Iginla could join the game in progress. Foote joined the Avs in the second period a few years back when the Jackets traded him back to Colorado.

Doubt he makes it.. He's got to address the media, say his goodbyes, catch a flight, get settled into his hotel/locker room, etc.. Not to mention, I doubt he's had a lot of sleep as of late and won't get much tonight..

Also I don't think the pens are in that big of a hurry to have him play.

I'm not happy with the return but whatever. Things like this have to be expected from the Flames organization at this point. Well, so long as this current management group and ownership remain anyway.

Regardless, I'm legitimately looking forward to seeing Iginla and Crosby play together. Iginla goes from guys like Moss, Comeau, Jokinen and Cammalleri to the best centre in the game in the Crosby. Can't wait to see how he does.

Next start after that is Saturday at 11am mountain time against the Islanders.

960 is a mess right now. I really feel for Steinberg because everyone who's calling in is drunk off their chair.

True enough. It's just a little dissatisfying when you see the return that Morrow and Murray (lol @ that return) got. Quality would've been better than quantity in terms of the prospects, but who knows? Maybe the scouts know something we don't.
