The NBA is a tricky league to talk about in this way, though. There is forced parity due to it being fairly well known that refs try to keep the score close at the end of games.

Montreal will take care of Pittsburgh. Don't worry.

As long a Fleury is in goal, the Pens are definite beatable. Since most posters apparently know very little about hockey, I'll just recap Fleury's playoff history:

World Junior. Made one of the tournament's worst all time gaffs. Was less that mediocre in his final one.

AHL. He was pulled both his years in the Calder Cup from the Wilkes Barre starter's job for being a human sieve.

NHL. He was far from great against Tampa or Montreal and he exploded last year. Yeah, he was adequate in 2009, but it wasn't like the Pens won because of his play.

Bottom line is that play last year was not out of character. In fact, it was closer to normal than not. Sure, he may play well enough to win as he did in 2009, but it is far from certain. I'd be will to take 2-1 odds that Vokoun will start the Pens last game of the playoffs.

So the Pens look good but they are far certainly beatable

Nobody can beat Pittsburgh. The rest of the NHL are all just pretenders. Cooke is gonna get his second ring.

It's impressive what they've lined up but you never know how it will work out.

Not a bad year to roll the dice though if you're Pittsburgh.

He was great in the final series, but our series against Philly that year.... he's the only reason we got out of that one. Incredible

If they are matched against Ottawa, they won't let that happen. Ever.

I would take New Jersey and Chicago in 7 game series vs Pens so no not unbeatable

There D is still an issue as is MAF reliablity in playoffs ,, Addying a fringe 3rd liner/pylon and former superstar who is shadow of himself doesn't make them unstoppable

Fleury has more playoff wins than any active goalie not named Brodeur. He's more than capable as long as the pens are playing solid defense in front of him. Last year was an absolute shooting gallery in the pens own zone.

Ironically there's a good chance the Pens will play the Rangers in the first round.

Teams that make a splash at the deadline historically don't win the cup. Just saying.

I would argue that the Pens are underdogs.

In any event, no Pens' fan likes seeing these threads. Not that I believe in jinxes, if I had that kind of power I would use it for good, like lots of money and women for me. But any rational fan knows how hard a grind winning a cup is. So many varibales, hot goalie, certain teams match up against others better so who you have to play, injuries and on and on. I remember when Hossa joined the Red Wings and their already stacked super team in 2009. Again, no rational fan would buy any of this crap. I like the moves, am really excited to see Crosby for one of the only times in his career having an elite skilled wing and all the fun that could be to watch, but am realistic about what lies ahead, as I would guess most Pens' fans are.

That's about right, this team is going to have 4 solid scoring lines. I would like to see it shake out like this.

Kunitz - Crosby - Iginla
Morrow - Malkin - Neal
Bennett - Sutter - Dupuis
Cooke - Vitale - Kennedy

This is literally the first time I've seen it suggested by anyone that Fleury should have been a Vezina nominee after the regular season last year. Not saying it didn't happen, but that was hardly a majority opinion. Regardless, he's been better than his stats all year and over his last stretch of games he's been very good. If I had any concerns about him it would be how he'll look after getting his head smashed in the other night.

Nonetheless, these threads are awful. No team is unbeatable.

difference between Pens and Rangers is that the pens have proven to play well together and have won a cup together... they've merely added significant pieces of leadership without subtraction.

imho they are the favourites baring injury.
