This is incorrect. Next season is not an issue.

Can someone involved with the Flames get rid of this GM, Feaster is just awful.

What kind of trade is this for their captain? The Dallas Stars get a pick and one of the penguins best defensive prospects for their captain. The flames get a pick and two ncaa college players who play 30 games a year.

Feaster is simply driving blind out there.

In less than a year he has managed to, unnessarily trade down in the draft, only to draft a quebec high school student, that could have just as easily been drafted in the 2nd round.

Nearly trade away a top 5 selection in this years draft (basically Jones, Mackinnon, Barkov or Drouin - although Im sure Feaster would have selected off the table) for a player he couldnt even acquire.

And trade away a 500+ goal scorer, face of franchise and best player on the team for 3 question marks.

It boggles my mind how this man is still allowed to make decisions for this team. He's the worst GM in the league.

Why did Pittsburgh do this? They really didn't need Iginla

No - the 1st is key. Set in stone 1st is better than a conditional 1st, especially given that it would be tough for the Bruins to extend Iginla.

Koko is better than either of the Pitt prospects, but I wouldn't say he's a ton better. Bart is meh - the type of D the Flames already have enough of.

In the end it's a moot point because Iginla chose Pitt.

It boggles my mind that you think it is possible for him to have gotten more! If Iginla will only waive his No-Trade to Pit, and this is all they were willing to give up, tell me what else could have been done!

Would it have been better to let him go for free, cause at that point, it was the only other option!

Oi. Not a great deal for Calgary. I get that Iginla was sort of holding the reigns, but when you trade a guy like that you at least need to get a top prospect.

Also, Pitt has given up a lot of futures the past few days. I guess you can do that when you have Crosby/Malkin but there comes a point where it's detrimental to the future of the org.

Hopefully Pittsburgh won't fall victim to having too much star power where nothing connects and almost everyone underachieves. Though right now they are rolling so I dont know

Pittsburgh might end up overhauling too many players with not enough time to gel.

Or they could walk through the competition.

Getting grinders out of the top 6 is a good thing.

People always wanted to see Crosby with an actual line with top 6 players. They get one, and it's bad.

Idk, obviously Iginla is still a good player, but I think those assets could have been used for a defenseman. It kinda seems like a "well, why not" move rather than addressing a need

He helps them - but grabbing him also keeps him away from the Bruins.

Sportsnet just reported that the deal was made around 5:30 Mountain time and that the Iginla family knew that Pittsburgh would be the destination at that time.

Feaster trolled Chiarelli so badly.

on hockeycentral they're saying the Iginla family knew he was going to Pittsburgh at 5 MT.

Wow, so Feaster took Chia and the Bruins for a ride.

Might want to do some reasearch on the two prospects.

A clear marker for college players is thier PPG pace in there 18 year old season
last 10 NCAA Seasons
winger .8PPG-1.00
Barber, O'reagan, Gaudreau, Zucker, Agostino, D,Amigo, R. Nash, C. Conacher, M. Bergland, Galiardi, Cogliano,

centers .68PPG - .95
Khaira, Turris, C. Wilson, Coyle, Bjugstad, Kesler, Stepan,
As an oilers fan I am excited that we have a 6'3" center trending in the 55PT nhl player range.

But Agostino trends out to a 50-55 point NHL winger.

Hanowski was team captain, top 10G u24 in NCAA
6'2" 200LB that projects as a 15-20G 15A player.

Plus a pick in the 25 to 30 range in a very deep draft.
Might want to think were the blue chippers come from

tradition pick success for good nhl players
picks 1-10 90%
picks 11-20 70%
picks 20-30 50%
but if it is like 2003 then that 20-30 pick should have a 70% chance of getting you a good NHL player.

Calgary's scouting staff knew what they were doing.

hockey futures like the flashy 1st round picks
and tends to under value NCAA players and good late round Ahl players.
Rajalas (broke Ovechkins U18 point record) and 1ppg @21 in NHL.
Not even in the oilers top 20?

But Calgary just got 2 of the better trending NCAA Players.

PS: those that think a guarateed return of
Equal body type center trending to 45P (khoKho)
Bartkowski trending as 5/6 Dman.
is better than
A player trending 50-55 point winger (bottom 1st line)
a potential 20G power winger(2nd/3rd line)
25-30 pick in a deep draft

Come on!

For what they gave, I don't think this is a legitimate criticism. I'm not trying to insult you here. Nothing of any major value was lost. 1st rounder will be late and that was the biggest thing.

Agreed, would have been better off addressing their defense.

Iginla is a nice pickup, but offense hasn't been there downfall.

But it wont hurt to not have him, plus (and I bet this played into it) by them getting him that means teams like Boston didn't get him.

If this is the case, this makes me want Feaster gone more than anything. If anything, this makes him lose any respect he had remaining (if any at all). This is not how you negotiate with business partners - the idea is you keep them informed and not take the rug from under their feet at any given moment.

Feaster won't have a job after this year anyway.

conditional on what though? if the condition was iginla re-signing then bostons offer was better. boston doesnt trade for players and then let them walk. look at peverley, kelly, seidenberg, boychuk, ference and role players like paille, campbell and even recchi, all traded for and re-signed. i think boston would have let horton walk if it meant using his money to re-sign iginla for another year or two.

Letang and Malkin's extensions don't kick in until the following year. Which by that time, Despres will have a top 4 role and push one of Orpik/Martin out of the lineup. Paying for our big guys' raises.

You can call us the Pittsburgh cheaters if you wish. We enjoy the hate.
You need 3 more forwards?
