Sakic let Bourque raise it in '01. Would Crosby let Iginla raise it first?

Hey, maybe they'll also pull an "Avalanche-Organization" and retire his jersey too.

That would be a classy move. Sid's raised it already so why not have Iginla hoist the trophy first.

Hahaha let's not get ahead of ourselves... ask this question when they have a lead in the finals.

Of course. Iggy and Sid already have history together. Sid knows Iggy is been waiting his whole life for this and Sid has already lifted the cup before.

I think he should not just because he's done it before, but because I believe he will get to do it a few more times in his career.

Other than the Pens actually winning, that would be a nice sight to see.

I think that he should---this would be returning the favor of Iggy feeding Crosby the puck to give Canada the gold medal.

I think Morrow would feel left out, aha.

It's just a hypothetical question.. There was a thread not too long ago that asked who their team captains would pass it off to if they win the cup. It isn't insinuating that they will win it.

If the Penguins win the cup and Crosby lets Iginla raise the cup first, will Sakic have retroactively pulled a "Crosby" in 2001 when he let Ray Borque hoist the cup first??!?!?!

!??!?!?!!?!?

That's a tough one... It would be cool if he did, but we have to remember Iggy is 'only' 35. Bourque was 40 and it was definitely his last season.

Why don't we just cancel the playoffs and give the Pens the cup?

Gotta play for it first and there are no guarantees-lots of good on paper teams have lost in the final-many have gone out early.

Where in this thread has anyone guaranteed a Pittsburgh win? It's a question. Nothing more, nothing less.

Iginila would probably be the first person it was passed to, but it wouldn't be like Bourque. Not the same situation.

Also, Crosby is no Sakic. Sakic is all class. Crosby makes Subban look like a stand-up guy.

bingo! Besides, Bourque was in Colorado for a full season and part of another. He was great in their playoff run and there was one game in particular he carried the team.

I wouldn't be surprised if Iginla isn't even second in line to get the cup on a penguins team that did so well as a group all year only to pick Iginla up with 15 games left.

Toews immediately passed the Cup to Hossa, who also jumped teams in hopes of winning a Cup (was denied in the SCF the previous two years). Nobody made a big thing out of it, nobody should have. It's just a thing that should happen with big players who have been working a long time without sniffing the Cup. Nothing will ever be as feel-good as Ray Bourque, though.
