Feaster likely just earned himself an extension

Cheers.

So i'm interested to see what people people think the chances Feaster is extended are.

I personally think management is using him as a puppet of sorts until the off-season, and then I feel strongly we are going to bring in Burke...I kind of wish we had Burke to help up move these assets, I think he could of helped a lot.

Sven Baertschi---there may actually be room for him on the roster now.

Can't wait to see Baertschi in action on a more consistent basis. Hope he's Calgary's next career captain.

Debacle to who? So far it looks like an ok pick.

1. trade iggy
2. sign iggy to a one year deal
3. trade iggy at dealine
4. sign iggy to one year deal

repeat for full rebuild. i think feaster is a genius for coming up with this masterful rebuild plan. if the flames look good during one of those years and think they have a shot at the cup, just don't trade him that year.

Pretty much sums it up.

Also the act of dealing Iginla should help propel the Flames to a lower tier in the standings. They can finally get some top-5 picks - something they have never had since moving to Calgary in 1980.

I was pretty shocked at the time, but calling it a debacle is quite a stretch.

Jankowski and Sieloff are who we got by trading down instead of likely Tevo.

So far, its looking like an alright deal as both players are meeting expectations. The deal has potential to work out well for the Flames.

I would have fired him right after that offer sheet story where he would have lost the draft pick and O'Reilly would have been on waivers.

I wouldnt this Gm to make trades for my retooling process.

If there is one thing Feaster is bad at, its trades and apparently O/S's.

He has been solid in terms of contract negotiations and his scouting team that he brought in has been great so far.

If he was a little more of a hockey guy, he would be a great GM but his lack of ability to judge talent is a real crutch for him.

Flames. You fire Feaster and we will let you have Cliff Fletcher. Guy is awesome at setting up for the rebuild

Dallas got more for Morrow than Calgary got for Iginla...

Nieuwendyk strikes again.

I think the fans are more happy that Iggy can go for a cup than the actual return.. At least that's how I feel..

If the ownership doesn't want a rebuild, then there is no rebuild. The job of a GM is not as simple as you seem to think.

It makes sense, he's received buy-in on the move, certainly he would of had that prior to signing the dotted line. It's not a surprise to any club stakeholders this happened. Furthermore it's not like the team can do that much worse next season, so really next year you have a better or similar season and Feaster is in the drivers seat for this new post Iginla era of Flames hockey

If he is its a win-win trade, Pitts get to load up for this season and Calgary gets 2 decent prospects + 1st, if not then it looks pretty bad.

Feaster was hired because a different GM did all of that

The only extension will be his waist size when he goes to eat his stress away at a buffet today.

Except for the fact that 28 GM's will probably not deal with Feaster in the future unless he's getting absolutely reamed on the deal.

Jay Feaster will have one GM to deal with in the future. And even then, based on recent history, he'll still get crappy deals.

Good luck to the Calgary fans..... I hope you get a new GM soon.

Bad luck to little iggy (small i for small character)......... hope the dream team blows a wheel and your Cup dreams go down the toilet.

Why because Iginla choose the Penguins? Nice shot at Iginla, for a team that prides it self on being so tough your fans don't seem to take the slightiest thing going wrong very well.

If you provide a list of four teams that you'll waive your NTC for, you provide a list of teams that you'll waive your NTC for. Character means something and iggy's just took a big hit.

Yes and at the end of the day Feaster went and asked Iggy which one of the 3 teams he wanted to play on most. It like he called Feaster and said only trade me to Pitts he was given a choice by Feaster out of respect or stupidity and he choose Sid over Krejci. How this effects his character I will never know.

If you think the other GM's in the league give a crap to how much Feaster troll-jobbed the Bruins you're delusional.

Also, who are we kidding, Feaster gets reamed on every deal.

the Hossa mess? Hossa helped them get to the SCF. Without that trade, I highly doubt they win the Cup the following year. Dupuis, who is better than anyone they gave up for Hossa, is still on the team and contributing in a very positive way.

And who did the Pens give up again? Colby Armstrong, Angelo Esposito, and a draft pick.
