Maybe if the 1st is a conditional pick on whether Clowe re-signs in Montreal but otherwise Habs give up too much for Boyle and a rental.

Edit: Read the proposal wrong. Thought it said Eller and not Ellis. Not as bad as first thought but still not sure if Habs do it.

Montreal politely declines. We do not need Boyle. He is a great player, but we do not have the space for him and his salary when he would represent a luxury rather than a necessity.

Make the deal more simple and base it on Kristo and a 2nd for Clowe.

Both teams decline. Montreal gives up too many assets and San Jose gets too many assets that they don't need.

Kristo and our 2nd for Clowe might be worth thinking about, if Clowe seemed at least slightly inclined to consider re-signing with us. Agreed that building it up to include Boyle is just not necessary (or desirable really).

Understood. However, if Mtl wants to compete with Pens they need to add a RD.

Ideally, a big top 4 SOB…However, none are available…So the next best thing, is a puck-moving RD and Mtl beats competition alla Detroit style.

I believe he grew up a Habs fan, so it's pretty damn likely actually.

That said, with Pitt getting Iginla Clowe's value in a limited market just went up. Boyle is probably untouchable with the Sharks playing so well all of the sudden (We just beat the Ducks 9-3 over two games). He'd cost a team a fortune to get at this point.

why offer good prospects for clowe?! we saw what Iginla fetched, and hes havinf a decent season..

Counter offer

Steve Quailer
Mac Benette
low 2nd rounder

for Clowe

no need for boyle.

should even make that pick conditional.

San Jose hangs up. then laughs. then in the fantasy world in which that trade exists, beats the Habs in the SC final.

How is Mac Bennett not a good prospect?

A 2nd round pick see's him stay in teal, period. He's more usefull for us in the playoffs than a 2nd round pick.

The Sharks do not NEED to trade Clowe, they are just looking to see if it's WORTH trading Clowe. He's not a problem, we will more than likely at this point make the playoffs, we are not trading him unless it's worth it.

So if he's been so terrible, why do you want him?

^^ Agreed 100% ^^

In fact, I would be sad to even lose a 2nd rounder. No goals and a minus 6, I would rather keep our picks, and just wait for Bourque and Prust to come back and see how this new team plays in the playoffs.

Murray fetched 2 picks including at least 1 second and a 2nd/3rd. If, and at this rate is looking like a big if, Clowe gets dealt, expect a bigger return than the sharks got for their #6/7 dman. Clowe just came off the injury list and looked really good on his new line last night. Hopefully that line keeps it up tonight against Detroit. If so, we can pretty much stop talking about these trade scenarios cause the sharks would stand pat barring a ridiculous offer they couldn't refuse. For the first time all year the sharks are running 3 actual scoring lines and a skilled 4th line that can pot a goal here and there.

This 0 goals arguement is absolutely stupid since Clowe brings other assets like a vet pressence and toughness to our line up. On a good year for him, he would've potted at least 10 goals this year. 1st+decent prospect for Clowe or we keep him.

We are absolutely fine with keeping Clowe unless we get a good return back. Most posters on the forums keep using the 0 goals argument without taking into account his poor shooting percentage. Clowe has been way overdue.

With how bad some of the offers have been it is kind of funny to hear them at all. If you really think he is that bad don't make an offer at all. Just say not interested and let it go.

The price for Clowe is a 1st + mid-prospect. Anything less and we're keeping him.

Murray got us 2 2nds. And Clowe > Murray. If you won't offer anything more than that, we'll wait until your Eastern rivals do.

No link (from radio i guess), but someone posted you guys offered Leblanc and Nashville's 2nd. I think that's pretty fair and close to what we are talking about here.

I wouldn't do that just yet. I'd hold out for at least Leblanc and MTL 1st. That price will only go up as the deadline approaches. DW is a genius by waiting until Iginla and Morrow were moved. He clearly has negotiating power right now because not a lot of PWFs are available besides Clowe.

I'm waiting for Boston to offer Koko+1st. Maybe even some conditionals. I doubt Clowe is traded before April.
