How about Robidas? Shoots right so it doesn't replace Mitchell, but it does replace Greene (I just don't see him playing well in the playoffs since he is getting back to form).

If not, I'm still stuck on Rehger, he shoots left and is a good replacement for Scuderi or Mitchell should either be needed..

It should be pointed out that the Sabres have talked to the Kings about Stafford going to L.A. and not the other way around.

Have we asked the Sabres about Regehr? We absolutely have. We have never targeted Stafford, not at all. He just gets shoved into the deal for Regehr every time we ask. So Wed a.m. when Buff decides to stop insisting that Stafford be a part of any RR deal we will see them make a move.

Tanguay and Sarich are both reasonably signed, though both have a no trade or a no movement clause. Wouldn't complain with either, Sarich is a reasonable fit, but Tanguay seems more of like another Williams, more of a playmaker, but often injured. He is a left wing at least though. Both have Stanley Cups, and are solid veterans that could fit in throughout the long term. Would have to add to bit Bernier, especially if we get a goaltender back as well. So long as it isn't Daniel Taylor, I'd be fine with it

Kings are trying to sign Nate Schmidt top NCAA UFA. We are in the hunt though I see him signing in either Washington or in Philly we have a sort of inside track.

I agree overall but to be fair he does say that DL has inquired about a deal. 99% of the thing is speculative but he is right about DL inquiring about a deal.

It's hard to imagine we would convince a defenseman like him to sign given how young and established our blueline already is, too much of a logjam versus going to somewhere like Philly where he will see some action within a year or so.

I agree. I see him in Philly more then us since they are almost a direct line into the NHL for him. That said he would be a second Gravel for us (in many ways but not entirely) and we will position this as our needing to replace players like Scuderi soon enough as well as WM etc.

The usual "nobody's job is safe and you have as good a shot as any of our kids of making the team" talk.

We could pull this out as we are talking with him but I agree, he should end up somehwere else.

Wow.... I can't believe there's no even "a bit of interest" with any one of these players...

Robidas is probably the defensman that best fits our needs/price point right now. I would love to see the Kings trade for a guy like Mark Stuart to fill the void when Scuderi/Mitchell either retire of leave, but we really don't have the farm depth to pull something like that off I don't think.

I'll cover the forwards:

Hejduk: Meh, he's a shell of his former self and I don't see him as an upgrade anywhere
Mueller: Gets worse every season, plays RW (not a need) I like what we have better
Glencross: Left wing, great contract. Problem is that he took a big hometown discount because he wanted that NTC. He has a farm there and severely doubt he would accept a trade.
Paajarvi: Meh, the upside is there, but he does nothing to help this team now
Kopecky: Career high is 15 goals and he's not much of a playmaker. He's on his way to his best statistical season (for goals) as a 31 year old, I'd pass as I don't see him as much of an upgrade.

Who's he play like? Martinez, Kolomatis, Collin Miller?

That's one dman off the market.

edit: Second-round pick and a conditional fifth-round pick for Leopold. Not a bad return for the Sabres.

Makes me happy that we got Ellerby for only a fifth.

That's not a bad thing having Leopold off the market. Is not the type of d-man the Kings need.

I expect the Sabres are not done. I can see the next trade coming from them within 48 hours as other teams go into panic mode to go after the next chip.

Magnus Paajarvi would be a solid addition as a big fast LW and he's really come around as of late. However I see him more likely coming to LA in the offseason if EDM tries to acquire Bernier

why trade for Magnus Paajarvi when we have Tanner Pearson and he fits our system perfectly... Again what we need is a defensive Dman to the help kids, and help shoulder the load.

if Leopold went for a 2nd and 5th, Regher should be cheaper maybe a 3rd

I'd be interested to know what they are asking.

Sabres fan here and I really cant think of another place to post. It looks like we in Buffalo are in Sell, Sell, Sell mode. Can you guys give me a quick scouting report on Linden Vey? He sounds like a real heart and soul guy who will be able to plop a few in. Perhaps the perfect 3rd liner who could slot up to 2nd line in case of injury. Would you say that is correct?
