Subban vs Suter

Who's having the better season this year (more likely to win the Norris between the two) P.K. Subban or Ryan Suter?

Both are under Oel, Pietr and Chara (Karlsson too if around), but i'd give this to PK. Just that important to his teams' season. On a good contract too.

Yeah an HF poll is sure to be an accurate representation, and not a popularity contest.

This year? PK is playing like a world beater. I'm blown away every time I watch him.

Then why do we even debate the subject on the HF boards in the first place?

Suter is still leading the league in ice-time.

Him(not just because of the ice-time).

Well anyone can vote in here without giving good arguments, the Norris thread is a pretty interesting read/debate over the subject because of that.

Subban has no chance here, so I don't know what this will accomplish. But I don't want to undermine your thread... carry on.

I disagree. I personally think Suter and Subban could give OEL and Pietr a run for the money, one could make a good argument that they are already better. OEL's receiving quite a bit of substantial attention, and I've only seen a few games of his, but I have a hard time putting him above Suter. Though he OEL has played solid in the small sample size that I've seen him, Suter was excellent in Nashville and has only gotten better since going to Minnesota. Subban's having quite the year too, especially coming off a season like last years. Personally I would put Suter over Subban right now, but think that Pietr doesn't crack the top 5. That's just my personal opinion. In that regard, or for that matter, in general:

Karlsson
Chara
Suter
Weber
Keith
Doughty

in any order, then Pietr. That's just where I put it. I know other's will have differing opinions and that's fine. IMO Suter's better than Weber, I know I'm going to take heat for that but watching Minny quite a bit this season, he's been the best player on the ice for the Wild.

From my experience, that same debate usually happens here as well, and just gets focused down to the differences in the two in question, which has become the hot topic is all.

I've found many of these to be just as interesting as the thread that starts the debate.

Also, I think if it was close, historically it shows it's close even here. If it's not, it's usually not. That's where this CAN be accurate.

In the end, it gives at least an idea where fans stand, even though they have no say and the writers do. Who knows what factors the writers put into their vote.

I don't know how many of us really watch enough of the two teams to know. I don't. Subban's season is tainted a little bit by the Habs easing him into the lineup and using him on the 3rd pair for the first 15 or so games. Suter started slow in terms of production too. And now they are both rocking, seemingly... statistically, anyway. Well, I've watched every minute of Subban this season and know he's playing awesome right now. Suter probably is too, I haven't seen him.

Do not watch Suter, so I am not going to vote here. But Subban has been awesome for the Habs.

Can't vote fairly on this one, I'm a huge PK Subban fanboy and I've only seen Suter play one game this year.

Shouldn't you be in all the other similar threads making the same argument, or do you only wait for a player of your liking to be involved.

OEL loses too many battles in the corners, IMO, to be considered top 5...for me, it's

Weber
Chara
Karlsson
Suter

Petro/Keith/OEL
Doughty, Suban

Just my opinion. I see a lot of gambreaking plays by some of these guys this year, but it's the simple/consistent plays for me that distinguish a top 5 dman (banking pucks around defenders, patience with the puck, consistent wins in the corners, etc...a la Lidstrom).

This poll is about their performance this season, not the players themselves. Both Suter and Subban are having better performances this year than any of the players you mentioned.

Suter but it's close. I wouldnt trade Subban for any D in the league right now but Karlsson (considering PK young age, potential and contract).

Also why is Chara so high ranked ? He hasnt played very good this year and everytime he faces the Habs he does the dumbest things ever...
