The ugly:
I'm ashamed to admit it, but I fist pumped when Santorelli scored to win the game for Florida.

Nah, it was their color man, Bill Lindsay.

The Florida broadcast team is brutal, but I laughed out loud at the "sit down Potsie" comment and thought it was one of the few highlights of the night.

I give him style points for that one.

I thoroughly enjoyed his not-missing-a-beat "Hubie Doobie Doo" when Huberdeau scored. Didn't even hesitate....just rolled off his tounge naturally.

I've supported Leino since he's been here, but this game served as a nail in the coffin of sorts for me. If he's not important enough to see the ice at all even after taking a dumb penalty, buy him out in the off season.

For all we know Rolston would've done the same thing to someone like Vanek if he had taken that penalty.

That's what, 12 1-goal losses on the year?

Mouthed off at the ref. He received a unsportsmanlike penalty. Penalty resulted in a goal. He was also on the ice for the first goal. Not a great night for the man.

True. But we've seen players take dumb penalties (Ott) under Rolston with no consequences.

While true that Ott is a leader who brings it every night, I don't see how Rolston would justify benching Leino (who, like it or not, is an important piece to our current offense) for two whole periods and not treating Ott the same.

Perhaps an error of commission isn't weighted as heavily as something like this which was completely avoidable?

Very true.

I love that Rolston stuck to his guns. But if a player like Leino (who is indeed an important player on this team now) isn't viewed as such by the coaching staff, why is he here?

I understand that Leino isn't our cog. But on a team that has struggled mightily in the possession game all year, shouldn't he be playing?

If not, then perhaps he shouldn't be under contract.

Does anyone know if Leino actually mouthed off to the ref?
I don't have DVR so this is based on memory, but I thought I heard the linesman yelling that the play was offside (or maybe it was Leino yelling at the ref?), but the Sabres never seemed to tag up and continued applying pressure.
I assumed that it was an offside play, because the Panthers made some pretty risky passes during the sequence.
Perhaps they gave him the penalty for that.

Edit: Yep, from Leino said it looks like it was a delayed offside and then he decided to mouth off about it.

I think Rolston is basically in a battle for control of this team right now with an eye towards next year...but he might not even get there. My guess is Pegula/Black are going to go out and get a big name coach whether Regier likes it or not. And he won't. Darcy was forced to fire his buddy and he's going to be forced to do more. I can see him keeping his job and someone senior brought in above him

I guess, but it's kind of hard for anyone to appear in control of anything when the team is so bad.

G: Ennis is quietly playing at a 60-point pace this year. 59 points over his last 81 games too.

Gerbe was putting everything to the net...I liked it. I liked Weber stepping up and meeting opponents at the blueline, as opposed to backing in.

But this was...pretty ****ing typical.

Other than the Kaleta line on the ice with a minute left in a 4-4 game, which are you referring to? Just curious

Pysyk sat over Leo or Myers, Flynn scratched for Scott, Ott shooting 4th in the shootout, not starting Enroth in a perfect situation, sitting Leino
