Allison update

Allison appeared on SportsnetNews(canadian sports station for those who don't know) last night and fully intends to come back and hopes to have a career year

-not looking for a big money deal, never mentioned the kings and said he has a few teams he would like to play for(only mentioned the leafs as one of the teams he has in interest in)

my guess is that he doesn't want to come back to the kings

I guess your guess is right.
And I also guess the Kings don't want him back. We can't gamble on him once again, after all the money we wasted.

On the other hand, if Deader is gonna be ok, I hope he'll make a comeback with us.

Glad to hear he's healthy, but no more Allison talk, he's not a Kings anymore...

Well, since we're rebuilding maybe it's good to have him sign with another team and we would possibly get a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick out of it. Depending on a new CBA of course.

Under the old CBA, we wouldn't have gotten a comp pick since he was a RFA and we didn't qualify him. I would be shocked if the new CBA allowed for comp picks for letting RFA's walk, but crazier things have happened.

Again with the rebuilding talk? What shows you that we're rebuilding?

Well, since we still have guys like Luc, Matty, Miller and with the signing of Conroy to a 3 year deal I don't see how you can say we won't sign anymore guys once the NHL is back to the way we know it.

As I recall the old CBA rules apply since he was let go prior to it expiring.

All I can say is that if I could pick only one from a healthy LPD line for the team LA has now it would be Deader no doubt.

Forget the rest of the drama queens, get the stud and bring the kids up right.

All he needs now is the NHL and its players to get a deal done and Jason Allison, the former Bruins captain, figures he's good to go. His return from injuries aside, that puts the 6-foot-3-inch, point-per-game pivot in a very crowded field of unrestricted free agents.

"Tell me about it," said Allison, reached late last week at his Toronto home. "I just want to get back out there. Get this [collective bargaining agreement] thing done and let's get playing, for everyone's good."

...

"I think I'm an interesting guy for a lot of teams," said Allison, who left Boston in the fall of 2001 amid a contract dispute that eventually brought him a long-term deal worth $8 million a year in Los Angeles. "Whoever gets me is getting a point-a-game guy for a lot less than the going rate, because I know, wherever I sign, it's going to be a deal based on games played and points. I understand that. It's the whole injury thing. But I'm fine. The neck's not going to be a problem. And the money isn't going to be an issue for me. I just want to go out, play, have some fun, do what I like to do."

...

"I've been away, sure, but I feel like I did after I came back from wrist surgery with the Bruins -- like I've got my jam back," said Allison. "Guys in this game who figure it out, they don't lose that. It will take me maybe 10 games to get my timing and vision -- vision for the puck -- all back in order. Guys who figure it out, they figure it out, and I'll be good."

In all, said Allison, he talked to some 15 clubs last summer about signing for 2004-05.

Jason Allison is a putz who should have/could have been playing for the Kings in January of 2004. The guy says he can play, but if I were a GM I would only sign him to a two-year-we-can-be-rid-of-you-by-the-time-you-wear-out-your-welcome contract. He'll be great during that two years and then he could move on.

You mean to tell me that you think a team with Luc, Conroy, Army and Klatt in it's top 6...(likely) Cowan, Kostopoulos, Belanger and Pirnes in the bottom 6...and Norstrom, Miller, Visnovsky and Corvo on D is "rebuilding"?

If that's "rebuilding", what are the Caps and Pens doing?

I know that Allison isnt the most popular guy among Kings fans
but we need a quality centre.
And lets assume all the great pivots are snatched up by other teams.
Would you sign him if he would agree to a performance-based (short term) deal?

Not if I'm the Kings...his time is up in LA and there's just no way he could play in LA again as long as AM is the coach. But I'd sign him to a 2 yr deal in a hearbeat if I were a GM not in LA, Boston or Washington.

That's okay man, by the team we make the playoffs again, Allison will have retired.

I personally think Allison signs with Toronto or Ottawa.

I just really want Deadmarsh to be healthy enough to come and try out with LA to see if he can make the team (I say that thinking nobody else will take a chance on him).

I agree, he'll most likely end up in Toronto, I beleive he will want to stay in the East which will be good for us. I sure hope we'll be able to get a good pick for him signing with another team.

There is no room in Toronto for him. First they are way over the cap. Sundin is number 1 there......... I could see him in Detroit though. If you assume Yzerman is going to leave they have some gaps at center that need filling.
