Adam Larsson is still available for a young, NHL-ready gamebreaking forward. We are looking for quality not quantity.

Avs acquire Ballard, flip MacArthur to Canucks

The Colorado Avalanche made their second deal of the day today, sending recently acquired Clarke MacArthur to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenceman Keith Ballard.

“Speaking frankly, Clarke MacArthur wasn’t a player who had a future with this club before free agency, so we made our best effort to find him a home for a playoff drive elsewhere. This is a deal that works out well for all parties concerned.” Avs GM TribalPhoenix stated in a radio interview today.

“Clarke is a legit top 6 forward in the league, and with the wingers we’ve recently acquired, we both understood he would be better suited for a team with a playoff future. In Keith Ballard, we’ve acquired a blueliner who was once considered one of the best in the game – we feel he still can be, but the heavy focus in Vancouver has taken away from his game overall. In a market with less media scrutiny, we feel he can assume a spot in our top 4 and address needs for mobility and offence on our blueline. We’re very happy with this trade.”

Had a few inquiries about Fistric and Khabibulin, none about Jones. Get your offers in while there's time. Looking for a decent prospect or mid pick.

We're also putting Eric Belanger on the block. Pick/prospect should do the trick.

PM me !

We're back for the trade deadline, players still on the block include Braydon Coburn, Danny Briere, Andrej Meszaros, and maybe Max Talbot. Also will consider moving Kimmo Timonen to a contender.

Just a heads up -- I know that I get destroyed in this upcoming trade.

I know. Now please go easy on me

demote/waive (not sure if he's waiver exempt but ill check in a bit) Ryan Hamilton back to the Marlies.

We also waive John-Michael Liles

Will be here to talk until trade deadline. We are very content with our line up going into the playoffs as we expect both Willie Mitchell and Matt Greene to be healthy. However, if a top 4 calibre defender was available, there may be some interest. Picks and prospects can be had.

Will also consider offers on Dustin Penner, but he steps up his game considerably in the playoffs. Not being actively shopped.

This may be subject to some cap reports by the league capologist, so we tentatively announce a blockbuster deal in Calgary.

Mark Giordano
Alex Tanguay

TOR 1st 2013
Morgan Rielly
Ben Scrivens
Mike Kostka

We needed to really kickstart this rebuild, and another 1st and elite prospect like Morgan really do so. Ben Scrivens gives us a nice 1B for next season, we feel he is NHL ready and while we won't throw him to the wolves, he will be given some opportunities to take the reigns. We wish Gio and Tanguay the best of luck in Toronto as they pursue a cup.

We waive Joey MacDonald, as Ben Scrivens will take the backup role for the remainder of the season.

With the recent acquisition of Marek Zidlicky and continued improvement of Chris Tanev, there just wasn't a spot in our top 6 for Keith anymore. In Clarke MacArthur we have further bolstered our forward depth and created what we feel are 3 lines that can put up points.

Rielly is worth more than Giordano by himself and Tanguay isn't worth a 1st, let alone a top 20 pick. Well played Calgary!
