Clarke Macarthur for Luongo + Jensen. The Canucks are gonna have to pay if they want to get rid of Luongo's contract. The price for that is Jensen.

It's hilarious that you think you know ANYTHING more than anyone else who watches TSN.... Didn't realize that you worked with MLSE.

The "deal" was signing Sestito

They would rather buy him out than trade their top prospect with him.

The Canucks are screwed either way. It would be best if they amnesty him this offseason and get rid of that caphit for a backup. Luongo will sign in Florida shortly after.

So stop with the insulting offers and realize that CBC,TSN and most sports networks in Canada grovel to Toronto and its always been that way. So when you watch these so called offers realize its most likely coming from a lacky pushing the value down.
The offers are bad because Vancouver isn't in a position of strength.

Goaltending is not a concern for the leafs. Why would they give up alot of value for a guy they don't really need right now.

Hey, if deadline day is slow again, TSN could always beat this dead horse all day long.

Iginla being traded early kinda screwed them, didn't it.

You don't need to work for MLSE to have common sense.

Give the leafs one reason to trade for Luongo right now. (That isn't that he's better than what we have, because Reimer is outperforming him this year)

I find this comment somewhat interesting. If you're just trying to drum up speculation you don't come out and say that. I wonder how Nonis feels about Dreger publicly discussing the negotiations.

Just to be clear, you are using forum posters vs. Mckenzie to make your point! Mckenzie reported exactly what it looked like and no source was needed to make that announcement. By adding forum posters to your statement you mislead to make a point.

If we lack current value we just wait till the draft when other teams may open up to the idea after losing out on other UFA goalies.

Im not in the camp of forcing TML to accept a deal,if its not there its not there. The part that is interesting is the media bias in this situation.

Not even that, but could you imagine if they beat the Pens in the playoffs with Luongo going beast mode? That would be amazing.
Leafs goaltending is okay. I don't think they need lu that much right now.

In my eyes the next best thing to a leaf cup, is Calgary going on a run make the playoffs and then win it all by bouncing the pens with Iggy looking on.

All I ask from the Leafs, is that the current consistency and future, not
get destroyed.

Gillis over-played his hand really, really badly with this one. They are basically now anchored to the contract, so, the best move may just be to keep him as the best backup/1b starter in the league. I can tell you this, it makes no sense for the Leafs to give up anything of value at this point in time, with Reimer being what we need, an average starter.

AKA, what every Leaf fan is now saying.

No, of course, we'll only be tearing apart our current team to acquire a goaltender who has been worse this season than our current tandem.

Terrible, brutal, awful proposal for Toronto.

Yeah. Vans still in a tough spot with the cap going down.

I think that's why Gillis put the call on now.. his value is only going to drop further by the draft.

Your best hope IMO would be Tampa at the draft. I don't see them doing the canucks a huge favour in terms of assets going back though (if they can even afford the contract)

While I'm not as optimistic as other Canucks fans on the how much/and when for the Luongo return, this saga will *not* end in a buyout.

First, a buy-out would require a cold-hard chunk of cash that the Vancouver owners will not be willing to pay-up to lose player. Second, if the market dries up for Luongo, Schneider will be traded to allow the Canucks to accommodate Luongo's cap hit and still ice a quality team rolling forward.

Lou isn't going to get amnestied... give your head a shake. Someone would be willing to give up a 6th rounder, which is much better for the Canucks than Amnesy.

Lou also won't go on waivers, no way he waives his NMC to go to whomever claims him first.

It will be a trade, but the return is going to massively disappoint Vancouver fans if they think they are getting much value.

They wouldn't even trade Luongo alone for Macarthur
