Pretty awesome that we have Lidstrom to call up a prospect to convince them to sign with us

Does anyone know what Dekeyser's contract is? I know he signed for two years but what is his cap hit? Sorry if it's been mentioned already.

It's comparable because the NCAA Championship and MVP are two of the greatest awards you can win in the entire nation, where as the CCHA awards are only for 11 teams. Even with those NCAA Torny awards being for just a handful of games, you can't deny Abdelkader had a GREAT college career.

Hope you had a good laugh though.

No info on terms but we speculated that it will be the same as with Sustr. 925 k salary and 325k on bonus per year.

It was signed this morning and it could take 24 h to approve by NHL.

you're still comparing apples to monkey organs here

I don't care how good the MVP is,it's infinitely easier to fluke your way into an award for a handful of games than it is for multiple awards for entire seasons

Abdelkader may have had a nice college career but you really shouldn't be even trying to compare the two awards because they are so fundamentally different

Apples to monkey organs? lol.

First of all, Abdelkader didn't fluke his way anywhere (look at his WHOLE 08 season at MSU), and yes I know it is much easier to impact fewer games compared to many. Anywho, in my post, I was comparing what they accomplished, not the direct awards...

I know the awards are different, but my point was that they both had great college careers, and how we can't expect DD to come in and impress us, or we will probably be let down.

I thought he handled the media well. He sounds like he has his head on straight and is genuinely excited to be here. Can't wait to see him on the ice.

he seems to be viewed as NHL ready though

and he doesn't really need to impress all that much to be better than Lashoff(who by all accounts he's basically a better version of anyways)

Wait, what are you talking about? Abdelkader is a first-line forward

A nice ace in the hole, that's for certain. I'd respect what he had to say. How could you not? He's Mr. Perfect.

Thursday?

@AnsarKhanMLive
Babcock sort of hinted at possibility of DeKeyser playing Thursday but also said with Quincey and Lashoff due back that he'll have options.

Where does he rank in the prospects?

Below Smith Nyquist and Jarnkrok? Maybe Tatar as well?

I think Pronman thought he's our 2nd best D prospect. I'd say around #5 in the entire pool, depending on who counts as a prospect.

Interesting question. I think he jumps right into the Wings "top tier" of prospects....

Smith
Nyquist
Jarnkrok
Mrazek
Tatar
Sheahan
Dekeyser

The exact order could go a number of ways, but I'd probably put Dekeyser in the 5th-7th range right now, assuming we still consider Smith a prospect. Otherwise, 4th-6th range.
