Flordia Gets: Jovo and 7th round pick

Vancouver Gets: 1st and 3rd rounders

Jovo goes back to Flordia where he was drafted and helps youngsters J-Bo and Krajieck. Canucks boast there prospects with these picks

are the canucks rebuilding? are the panthers ready to take on that kind of payroll?
why would the canucks risk trading one of their core player for a potential 30th overall pick? why would the panthers risk trading the first overall pick for a Dman they dont need right now?
it make no sense to both side.

Why the heck does Vancouver want to trade their arguably top defenceman again?

My Goodness, this is highway robbery for Florida provided they can handle the salary.

Take it and run, Panthers!

The canucks are not rebuilding, but could use a sure thing skill winger. As for JOVO he was great for flordia before he came to the canucks and he could help Krajieck and J-Bo fine tune their defensive game. While Flordia has all the future pieces of a good team a vet could help a lot

Is this actually serious? Honestly, this must be a joke.

I'm sick of all the Canucks trade proposals

I feel guilty by association

Canucks aren't rebuilding, Panthers don't need Jovanovski

Deal is majorly lopsided in Florida's favor as well

Are you that blind? How does this deal help the Canucks at all. My god, what has this site turned into...canucks.com? fanhome.com?

It's absolutely insane what's going on here lately.

No offense, Jovo is a top defenseman but his best abilities come from his offense. If I was going to pick a top 20 defenseman to help the young guns, Jovo would not be high on my list to teach "defensive" aspects of the game.

Jovo will be the Canucks captain if Markus doesn't come back. You heard it here first folks!

what "sure thing" skill winger is there in the draft? until they play and contribute in the NHL, they arent sure things. even crosby (who btw is a center, not a winger) have a slim chance of not panning out (im not saying he will, im saying he could )

Sean Hill

If I recall, the Panthers signed Sean Hill to a multi-year deal last year. Thus he provides the veteran defenceman that Florida was in need of. With Bouwmeester getting better each year, Florida figures they have a potential Jovo down the line anyways, but at a much lower salary than Jovo's 5 mill a year.

We do need a skilled winger, but do you know there are good players on the Free Agent Market that can be matched with the Twins?

You guys are being too hard on the original poster. I agree that Jovocop is worth more than picks. But, if Naslund leaves, and Bertuzzi doesn't come back in full form, the Nucks may have some rebuilding to do. And, with UFA age being lowered, Jovocop might not be a Nuck all that much longer.

I don't think this deal makes any sense for either team now, but it isn't like there wasn't some logic behind it.

Totally agree, he is pure heart, and he can lead. Jovo is great, but Morrison is the glue that held the team toghether.

Mo may be great and may have great heart on the ice but he's not a leader like Jovo is. Jovo always wears his emotions on his sleave and plays every game 100%, he's the captain IMO.

I'll disagree and use Colorado as an example.

Joe Sakic is a quiet leader with great heart on the ice... he's the captain. Adam Foote is way more vocal both on the ice and in the dressing room, and also wears his emotions on his sleeve... he's the assistant. Sometimes it's actually a good thing to be reserved with your emotions as a captain.

I don't see Jovanovski being a good captain whatsoever.

There's a handful of players on the Canucks I'd choose before him.

Linden should be the captain of the Canucks.

I think the point of the original posts was that the Nucks MAY want to move vets for prospects at some points. You deal is a vets for vets deal, and fairly one-sided in Montreal's favor.

That's not that bad of a deal, but I think Vancouver would want a defensemen in return.

Without Jovo.....

Ohlund Sopel
Malik Salo
Allen Brookbank
