he was never an islander, but he was owned by the islanders at one time. just before he hit free agency the islanders did own him.
that doesnt make him a real islander though.....he probably would have moved to manhattan.......

youre not willing to give up ONE prospect for an established player? one prospect from a pretty deep pool?
id rather trade nino ( potental ) player out west for a giordano type player ( established ) and then worry about what nino can do too me later.
thats fine and I respect that but milbury did that too

Luongo and Jokinen and by extension Gaborik for Kvasha and Parrish
Spezza and Chara for Yashin
Bertuzzi, McCabe and Ruutu for Linden
Turgeon for Muller

the last one was actually Maloney but you get the point, sometimes trading unknown quantities for vets can be disasterous. it looks nice
but it can kill you

did you know Sam Pollock once offered 5 NHL players to Bill Torrey?
he said no too. he figured that the Potvin kid would be pretty good too.

the point is Garth thinks Nino is the real deal, why trade him before we even know what we got

Lol how many games did he play for the Isles. Everyone here's just a fan, none of us have any power in the oranization so when you talk about how sure you are Garth Snow isn't gonna give up NN for Gio, it kind of irks me. Haha i'm sure you're a great guy though.

Anyways, I think Gio would be great for the Isles. Strong, hitting Dman with veteran leadership and a great cap hit. Maybe not NN.. Maybe another weaker prospect + 1st?

just so you know he was ready to sign, he offered to sign the same deal he offered Buffalo, We just wouldnt because of Dipietro.

Why is there an argument about whether or not Erhoff was an Islander??
The point is, his RIGHTS were traded for a 4th. That does NOT mean you could get him as a player for just that... The Flames got Dennis Widemans rights for a 5th last year... As a player, he could probably land a 1st

im not Garth, but Garth has been very vocal about how he does things. he's spelled out exactly what he's asked for in trades and proposed deals

its not so hard to make damned good educated guesses based on his own words, and Ichabod 13 has been here too so he knows it too.

hes frustrated and rightfully so, heck I am too, I love this team. but its stupid to pretend Garth is gonna do things that go contrary to his own words

all you gotta do is read and listen, he tells you exactly what he's thinking. it just alot of us are tired of losing and look for solutions where Garth just sticks to his plan

sure,

l said we got him for a 4th and we did

he was willing to sign, we just told him no

Garth did the same thing 2 other times

that what i mean about him being predictable

if you read and listen he tells you exactly what hes gonna do

so you actually got wiseman for a 5th right
you didnt pay more when he signed

same thing we actually got ehrhoff for a 4th
We traded him for a 4th too

The only difference is you overpaid wiseman to get him to stay

Garth told Ehrhoff no

considering what calgary got for iginla and may get for JBo and Kipper and Gio I realize youre desparate to get talented players, but The Islanders cant afford to overpay for players you most likely will be trading anyway

Youre not getting Nino for Gio, accept it and move forward, Garth has his own timetable and his own value system, Im sure he'd love to add Gio, but not at the cost youre asking
Show us a picture of him as an Islander in a game.

like I said Ichabods been here too

he can probably repeat Garths words just like I can

He'll only trade the pick for a player with equal talent and upside who is further along in his development cycle, meaning a player who is just as good but closer to being NHL ready

he says that every year when reporters ask. hes got his responses on tape... i sometimes wonder if he plays the tape on the phone while he goes out to play golf or go pee.... it never changes

i agree, he would fit damned near perfectly. and id be willing to give up nino for him. it would be a straight up trade. nothing added. ask for anything added from long island, and the deal is off.
i loved the post that offered giordano and pittsburghs first for nino.....boy i would have jumped on that with both feet!!!!!

A package of Gio and Glencross would bring back a 1st and a high prospect from any team. There is a overwhelming over pricing on Nino.
It's not like Andrew MacDonald was a throw-in. Cap space was also part of the equation. I honestly expected the aggressor of the trade would need to add. I was more curious if getting a likely to be cheap RFA defender back held value for the Flames (or at least from the perception of their fans.) There's a reason why the wink was in there, as well. I wasn't expecting it to be taken well, but I wanted to get a feel for value which I thank you for giving.

Mitch

Made even funnier by the fact that credible sources like McKenzie/Botta/Staple say Snow's not interested in trading 20 yr old Nino, that with the team needing to find a 1st line rw and legtimate 2nd line center, he'll be in camp fighting for a job.

Imagine if Nino were actually being shopped?

Yes I would be willing to do that. How about Kirill Kabanov (20 year old unproven AHLer) for Giordano?? He hasn't lit up the NHL yet dame as Nino so the value must be the same since they're the same age

Nothing against Giordano, but using Nino to upgrade over MacDonald just isn't worth it. We need a RH shot in the worst way.
