Pretty good mentor for Bjugstad, maybe.

Heh, I don't think Bjugstad or Shore will "languish" in the AHL. If you ask me, they'll develop more there. If either are on the roster next fall I will be disappointed. Shore needs to develop more, and so does Bjugstad.

I have been hearing since these buyout rumors started that Vinny wants to go to Montreal, again I don't know how factual they are.

Having LeCavalier at 1C in the near future will help the kids, not hurt them.

You want to leave slots open for them, but you need competent veterans for them to compete with and learn from.

I think if the Panthers can sign LeCavalier and draft Jones, we will be in pretty good shape for next year.

Every french-Canadian wants to play for the Habs... until they actually reach the NHL.

This! They need to develop their scoring touch. We can't have Bjugstad go ten games with only one goal.

Holy ****, there was a small power outage because of thunder and meanwhile this happens.

I think we can offer him more money and years than Habs? Habs need to re-sign Subban next year and they need a ton of capspace to do that. I doubt Vinny is taking a 1 year deal.

Maybe Lecavalier would like to play on a line with Huby. A fresh start for Lecavalier without moving too far from home since rumor has it Vinny loves Tampa.

I was about to hit post on about Kunitz rumours before the power outage and thunder, but it seems it's been confirmed by now:

Kunitz's deal begins with the 2014-15 season and runs through the 2016-17 campaign. It has an avg. annual value of $3.85 million. #Pens

I think the free agency market will be far more "sane" this year than in the past.

I think a 3-4 year deal at $5M per would get it done.

Funny, cause Lightning fans have an unhealthy, unrealistic lovefest for this guy. I've been saying he's overpriced and overrated for a couple of years now and it's like pulling teeth with those guys to get them to admit it.

Always fun being right!

Actually wonder if he'll just retire, doubt it a lot, but still. Since buyout pays him for 14 years 2/3 of contract price, he'll be making a ton to play golf and relax. I believe he'd probably still want to play, but its been 15 years, maybe go out on a semi-good end.

He's still a good player, and easily a 1C on a team that doesn't already have that position filled.

Not just 7.7 million capspace and 10 million salary good.

He may like living in Tampa but he goes back to Montreal in summer, so he obviously still has ties there.

Growing up a Habs fan may not be enough to want to play there due to the fishbowl atmosphere, so it might be worth coming here for 1 year and then going back to the Bolts.

I wouldn't even mind signing him for just one year so he can go back to Tampa after.

Huberdeau- Lecavalier-Versteeg
Flash-Bjugstad-Mueller

Respectable top 6.

Most people are thinking he (and some of the other buyouts) can get 3-4 yr deals which I think would be the perfect situation for us too. Sign Vinny for 3 yrs to let him finish out his career and give us a respectable top 6 center during that time. I think we can get him for the money we would've offered Weiss ($4-5M/yr).

Won't be surprised if Tallon makes a trade for Bolland...

Vinny will still likely be highly sought after in my opinion. Only way we grab him is if he wants to stay close to home and take less money.

Also, it would be nice if Weiss made a decision so that Tallon can plan accordingly...(maybe he has told Tallon one way or another already, who knows).

I agree, and I think this is a signing that Tallon could actually pull off. I dont see it as a huge chance, seeing how he is near the end of his career, and maybe wants another Cup, but he wouldnt be that far from his home, and he would be a good mentor for the young centers in this organization.

Woah, I think thats not a good deal for NJ at all. Zubrus is a decent player and I like him, so dont get me wrong, but signing him as a 35 yr old with that much money and for 3 yrs seems like a big overpayment. At 37 & 38, he wont be worth that contract at all.

Based on what I just overheard, I think you could very well be right about that. Cant say anymore but I think that we are interested in him.
