Mike Hoffman - Recalled March 26

News Release: Senators recall forward Mike Hoffman from Binghamton (AHL)

Ottawa Senators

Print
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators today recalled forward Mike Hoffman from the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.

Hoffman, 23, was one of 27 players who participated in the Senators’ abbreviated training camp this past January. In 41 AHL games with Binghamton this season, the Kitchener, Ont., native has recorded 28 points (13 goals, 15 assists) and 38 penalty minutes. He currently ranks third among active B-Sens in goals and is tied for third in overall team scoring.

Originally selected by Ottawa in the fifth round (130th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Hoffman has skated in one NHL contest for the Senators and was held scoreless in a 2-1 setback at Carolina on Dec. 23, 2011.

The Senators return to action Thursday when they host the New York Rangers for the final time this season at 7:30 p.m.
Looking forward to see him play again

that explains David Dziurzynski going down... not the decision to waive daugs the same day.Hoffman will replace dizzy in the lineup.

Really would like to see a Hoff-Turris-Alfie line....he'll likely start with Smitty and Neiler though.

I'd rather feel the excitement of winning with a bunch of our own prospects in the lineup.

Another gem by Murray's drafting. The amount of players he got from 2008/2009 drafts is amazing.

Hoffman has been playing his best hockey recently.

I'm calling a line of soon:

Hoffman-Zibanejad-Silfverberg

Lats has been really good on that line though.

Our scouting staff is awesome

I'm disappointed that all the shenanigans today were only making room for a callup, but once that gets digested it'll be nice to get another look at Hoff on the big club.

I'm looking forward to see what he can do at the NHL level. He has looked great in Bingo all season and would have been the first player called up if it wasn't for his injury.

Hoffman is also and RFA at the end of the season so the Murray's probably want to assess what kind of contract to give him.

FQL must be pretty happy about this, he has been pimping Hoffman for a while now.

I'm excited to see hoffman get a chance, but that's just me.

Few key notes to get you excited.

-He lead binghamton in scoring last year.
-He was participating in the warmups in the playoffs last year
-he's pretty quick and silky smooth. Good 2-way play and isn't scared of the dirty areas for a smaller guy.

I've liked him since he played in Drummondville. I think he can be a responsible 20 goal guy. Maybe more . His shot and wheels are really something.

I was pretty skeptical at first when you praised him so highly. There are a lot of prospects/ players that get a lot of hype and not all of it is deserved. But after watching him play nearly every game in Binghamton this season, I have to admit that I am very impressed and can easily see why you praise him so highly. He has all the makings to be a solid NHL player. If he can develop his physical game further, I could see Hoffman becoming a Mike Richards-lite at some point.

He'll get the standard 5 or so games on the 4th and be reassessed after that for a line shift.

I think Hoffman is one of our most underrated guys. He is going to be one of those 2nd-3rd line tweeners imo, but for a 5th rounder, thats damn good. The only thing in his game he lacks is physicality on the forecheck / defensive end. He will go into the corners and battle, he will take a hit, but he just won't lay a hit himself.

I personally would like to see a Greening-Smith-Hoffman line, or maybe even Regin as the center. Those two combos have a little bit of everything.

I personally think he will stick in the show, especially in the system the Stache employs.
