Remember when.....

I came across this pic on my hard drive...

Seems like it was just yesterday.

"Days turn to minutes, and minutes to memories...
Life slips away the dreams that we once had..." John Mellancamp

*sigh*

The Flyers did have a really memorable season last year. I really don't miss the NHL that much, but then I started downloading tons of video clips from last year and that's when it hit me......

I miss it a lot, ahh that Orange Crush was great. Was at Game 6, Best game i've ever seen. Will always remember it. Roenick to Gagne. Game set and Match. People were so loud as they walked out of the building. As if that was game 7 of the stanley cup and the flyers had won. Lets hope Hockey returns to these kind of great memories when it starts up again, if it does.

No the PK sank the Flyers. I thought Tampa Bay was a better team even if Desjardins, Recchi, Johnsson, Ragnarsson whoever else was healthy, but as long as the penalty killing was at least mediocre, we would have won the series. Tough to have a great PK with your top 2 d-men on the PK were out and the other one was playing with a broken hand.

The best part was how the series ended.. Prims reeling in Sami... Jr scoring the series winner!

Remember when Recchi picked off McCabe's pass and snapped it past Eddie, just salt in the wounds that game.

This date (April 25) in Flyers' history:

Flyers beat Toronto in Game 7 of their 1976 series with a 7-3 win.

game 6 in Toronto, Tucker blasts Kapanen with a vicious hit, who refuses to have play stopped and gets to the bench somehow, JR carries the puck in and Blasts one by Belfour, silencing the entire arena. unbelievable. I remember thinking back then, man this is a team of destiny. Sure wish i would have been right.
Kapanen's courage, and being the ultimate team player in that series should never be forgotten.

I had the pleasure of watching that game with a Leafs fan.... everytime the Leafs crossed centre ice, I heard "this is it... THIS IS IT". Twas extremely sweet to point, laugh, and say "No, THAT was it" when JR scored!

seeing that JR is so loved in Canada(sarcasm) , that made that goal that much sweeter.

The guy is so creative offensively. I forgot what game it was, but he flipped the puck over the player's head when he had a one on one rush. He couldn't regain control of it but it was a good try.

Around that time, there was a thread about favorite Flyers' goals. I think I listed that as number 3 on my list after JJ Daigneault's Game 6 (1987 Finals) goal and Clarkie's OT Game 2 (1974 Finals) goal. Gene Hart's call is one of the all-time greats.

Living in the Northeast and being a Flyer fan, I didnt get to listen to Gene Hart call a game enough. But that whole sequence of that JR goal, with Kapanen trying to get off the ice, falling down a couple of times. Not many guys I could think of would do that, and of course JR shutting up the entire city of Toronto is a awesome thing as well.
