Still rather trade Grabo and keep Bozak as the 3C.

Were it up to me, the team would look something like this next year:

JVR - XXXX - Kessel
Lupul - Kadri - Kulemin
Frattin - Bozak - Komarov/MacArthur
Orr - McClement - MacLaren

I want Stastny! Not the greatest player in the world but he would be pretty damn perfect in between Phil and JVR.

Who's taking Grabo with his contract and underperformance?

No offense to bozie but he needs to be parking his ass in the third line not in the first line.

He will, as soon as our third line center who's making 5.5M is shipped out.

Watching the game tonight and grabovski doesnt know how to pass the puck - IMO this is the guy we have to trade.

what about steve Ott - good on faceoffs, good on PK and hits - what would his cost be

Kamarov mclement ott

crash and bang for playoffs

Ott would be an awesome addition, but I highly doubt they move him, especially to a division rival. Pretty sure the Sabres had a big need to get tougher which is why they went out and got him in the first place. He's playing well for them, and they are only 3 pts out of 8th so I expect he'd be very expensive.

We are going to have to look in the west if we are looking to add a Center. East I doubt will be the right partner.

Leafs need Defense, Defense, and more Defense. Everything else has fallen into line wonderfully this season. Someone that could work with Phaneuf.

A defense partner for Dion and a skilled top six center.

Curious as to how people would feel about this.

To Tor
Brad Richards
2.75m retained by NYR

To NYR
Grabovski
2.75m retained by Tor

We have a 6.67m cap hit for the next 4 years before it drops down to 3.92m.

Can you buy out a player you traded for where the other team retained salary?

An upgrade on Kostka and we're set for now.

A #1 C would be nice, but Kadri is basically one playing 2nd line.

Robidas/Salo are my targets.

I would rather bozie > grabo so my wish is they trade grabs and sign bozie to an extension. Mcclement can play 3c.

If we can package Gunnar for giordano and get bulin wall for low rd pick I'd be on cloud 9

I think there's a good case to be made for acquiring Clowe. People can't seem to get past his 0 goals this season, but players of his type are rare finds in the NHL and you pounce on them when their value is low.

I'm not advocating trading a 1st round pick for him. Something centered around a Clowe-for-MacArthur swap with draft picks on both sides to even it out is what I'm thinking.

Two things our current top-9 is missing are: toughness and playoff experience.

The top-9 we used tonight has 93 NHL playoff games to their credit. And that's only Kessel, Lupul and JVR.

Clowe has played in 68 NHL playoff games.

In those 93 NHL playoff games, our top-9 has 53 points.

Clowe has 45 playoff points to his credit.

He's a clutch performer, a real heart-and-soul teammate, and someone that I feel the Leafs would be very fortunate to have for a playoff run.

We don't need Giordano in my opinion we have enough offensive weapons, we need a shut down guy to play with Phaneuf... that player isn't available though.

Mac + 3rd seems fair they might want Mac + 2nd. I actually like Mac he's a gritty 2nd/3rd line tweener but someone would have to go and Frattin is cheaper

Jack Johnson for Macarthur +2nd round pick

6'1, 231 lbs, 26 years old. Fits in with the age group and has good size. Would give Phaneuf a reliable D partner. Columbus isn't really a contender so in return they get a draft pick to build on. Plus an NHL ready forward, something they can use.

There's not a lot of Shutdown type who can skate and make passes. Smid is the best one available, After him it's thin.

I personally would jump at Campbell if he's on the block and if Florida retains some money as well.

Johnson has arguable been one of their biggest plus points. IMO he'll be captain by the end of the season.
