Are you freaking kidding me? Still can't score? Before this game what is the last game we had less than 3 goals?

Smith is a waste of a roster spot.

No no, the loss can't have anything to do with how great a goalie may play. We suck, our offense sucks, our forwards suck, Poile sucks, Trotz sucks, we need to keep sucking to get some 17 year old that will magically make us not suck...stop disrupting the agenda.

Don't wanna bash the guy, but I second this. He's more of a liability than anything. Would rather have Butler play in his spot.

Glad to see I'm not alone.

This is painful to read

Well but some posters think he's first line material. Sorry I like his effort but until he can score a bunch of goals I'm not impressed.

I mean, neither guy is lights out but I see far less negatives out of some of the other guys.

On the positive side at least we got a point. That beats losing at least. And w/ this team we need every point we can get.

I feel like Smith is going through some Peverley-tastic growing pains. Once it clicks for him, I think he'll manage to be a solid 40-50 pt guy, but it's going to take awhile, I think.

He had 14:30 of ice time 1 shot. Three big giveaways I noticed one of which created an odd man rush. Twice had the puck in his skates in the slot and could do nothing about it.

I can not understand anyone defending the play of this guy. He just came back from a conditions assignment which was done to help his confidence. At this point its more then his confidence thats the issue.

I think Smith is going through what Erat did with Trotz.

There's a lot of that this year. Blum, Smith, Ellis.... Really trying to figure out what it takes to be a consistant player in the NHL. I'd rather they work through in this throw away type season.

We went 0-6on the pp including a 4 min double minor. Yes, Varmarlov stood on his head but we put 34 shots on goal. One of those should have gotten through. Can we please just start moving some dead weight including Trotz and Poile, and focus on the draft now? Trotz was using corporate speak during the pre-game. The players needed to re-engage. How about they play professional hockey like they are being paid to do.

He could have played the game of his life and you would still bash him.

This just ain't our year-

I keep saying this but I will say it again- the bad luck we have had this year is just unbelievable. On that game winning goal, that rebound could have gone in 100 different places and would not have hurt us one bit.

But instead it goes EXACTLY to the one small spot on the ice that gives them basically an empty net for the winner.......... Unreal.

Not saying we aren't having a bad year- we definitely are- but the Hockey Gods are not on our side this year......

He has a lot of skill, BUT...he plays with his head down way too much and that's what's killing his game right now. I think he's still a little too overwhelmed with the speed of the game and he has to concentrate just a little more than he needs to to be able to make the plays we need him to make on the regular. Not bashing the guy, I think he had a good start to his season last year early on that spurred his confidence and allowed him to play above his level but notice how he disappeared over the course of the year.

The guy's just not ready, and I think we should develop him before we turn him into a head case.

Now he lacks confidence and has to think a little too much and it's killing him, and us.

If he had one point I would not have said a word. And I was not the one who brought his name up. Frankly I dispise even thinking about him. I would prefer to bash SK he is a waste of air as well. But thats a different story. Smith has the potential to be a 4th liner just as Tootoo was. skate 100 miles an hour shoot the puck missing the net by six foot. Thats all he is. What makes things worse his contract next year is 2 mil. That is if he is still in the NHL.

I don't think a $2m contract is going to hamstring us.

I only brought his name up because seems people think he is so great but I just haven't seen it yet is all. If he starts scoring, then I'll jump on the Craig Smith train.

But it's not his fault. This whole team seems to be having problems and he wasn't the only one that didn't score today so it's a whole team issue not just him. I'm fine w/ him actually...just don't think he's the savior for this team is all. Just think he is a little bit hyped up than what he has actually shown so far/done so far. Maybe w/ time my mind will change though as he gains more experience.

Of the younger players that I have been more impressed w/, Colin Wilson, Bourque, and Roman Josi have been the stand outs for me.

You must have value out of any contract. of contracts that are overvalued. People are quick to point this out with other players. But Smith gets a pass its absurd. Of course he is not the only one on the roster who is not living up to there contract. But this is a 23 year old with 4 games of development in the AHL now. The NHL game is way above his head.

If Fisher hadn't have gotten injured Smith would still be in Milwaukee. It was good to have Gaustad back and he did what he does well but he belongs with Clune and Yip. Tons of chances and no goals. Our PP totally sucked. On the bright side it was good to see Rinne play like Rinne again. We got a point but it was like giving a point to everybody else. This is an AHL team and we'll get killed by Chicago.
