"Darcy Regier has just finished talking to the media about the Jordan Leopold trade and about the trade deadline in general. Pretty interesting comments -- especially where he says he has talked to all 30 NHL general managers and is listening about any and every player in the Sabres organization. He also acknowledged it will be tough to keep all of his big-money players with the cap going down next year."

http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/...the-table.html

And to add to that:

@BuffNewsVogl
Darcy Regier:"Where our hockey club is right now we have to be open to listening to just about anything and everything, and I am listening."

If MacT is watching Habs it's for Tinordi. There was that rumor a while back from RDS that said Tinordi for Smid (maybe). Or at least they sort of hinted at it. Maybe we can get a 1st and Tinordi for Smid in the current market. Yeah yeah I know we need actual players and not picks or prospects but it would be smart asset mgmnt if they have deemed Smid to expensive to retain
Tinordi would be a nice pick up, and the pick is a decent return on Smid. I would prefer to keep Smid but if they can't they need to get something for him now.

I've been pushing for a Buffalo deal for awhile now...

The players I ask about are:

Pominville
Grigorenko
Ott
Ehrhoff

Do NOT want Miller or Myers

Edit: I'd love to get Hodgson just to screw over the Canucks but can't get too greedy

Ehrhoff would be a huge help to our atrocious defence. Ott is the best hitter in the league in my opinion. Not only that, but he can actually provide offence. However, we've got Brown now who everyone seems to love.

I agree, and Ott can take face-offs too, those 2 pieces would be a huge help on this team.

Ott and Brown wouldn't be comparables. Could always have both

I would hope to be able to keep Brown and add Ott to that toughness, not replace it.

I would hate to lose them but I wonder if a package of PRV, Smid and our 1st this year would interest them and get the discussions going on those players.

That would be awesome but i doubt that's something the Oilers want because of the potential for too many penalties. That's probably why they sent Eager down before they added Brown.

Tinordi was sent down to Hamilton earlier this week.

Earlier in the season there was talk that the Oilers had interest in Byfuglien.

We are in dire need of some scoring, and there's no way you guys will be able to keep all your boys up front.

I wonder if the Jets/Oilers could hammer out a deal for Byfuglien???

Meh. With our PK, we can afford a couple extra penalties if it means having Brown and Ott

All 30 GM's? Oh that's right, he had to talk to Tambo and then to Lowe.

Considering her is one of the thirty GM--when he talked to the 30th GN--was he looking in the mirror for this converstation and if so--how did it go?

I have a feeling it's Montreal that MacT is scouting as well. Montreal is trying to improve their line up for the playoffs, since they are well positioned to make a run. Perhaps Beaulieu is being showcased.

Hemsky, Smid, Fistric, Belanger, Whitney, Jones and Horcoff are all players Montreal might be interested in for a playoff run.

Beaulieu, Eller, Tinordi, Dietz are players that make sense for the rebuilding Oilers.
