NCAA Division I Men's Hockey Championship

UMass-Lowell about to get underway against Wisconsin up in Manchester....on NESN. Wisconsin's a pretty sneaky good team, can put some goals in the net. UML with the obvious talent in net. Good match of each team's strengths.

Minnesota-Yale tied at two at the end of regulation. I'd have hoped a poor WCHA tourney showing pissed off the Gophers, but Yale's giving the region #1 seed a tough time.

Yale scores 9 seconds into OT. ****.

What a complete failure from the Gophers. Best offensive team in the country and they're gone. Awful.

UML

Christian Folin with a nice goal.

He can really move for a big defenseman.

As tough as it is, Sconnie's got to figure out Hellebuyck, PP might be the time to do it. It'll be near impossible to do it even strength.

UML almost had that shorthanded chance. I thought that was in.

Shane Thompson, 3-0 UML.

This is over. Wisconsin's not scoring 3 goals this game.

Heads up as Gothberg gets the start for North Dakota. A Habs prospect and a Bruins prospect with the same goal...how strange is that really....

So what's the deal with these college players taking the puck to the net more aggressively than some of our favorite NHL'ers?

Really impressive stuff on display.

Nice. Thanks for the UND/Niagara link. I'm going to experience a special sort of rage if UND wins this region after Minnesota crapped the bed today.

It's easy to play the style UML does when you have an all-world goalie who's got your back.

I'm so bad at making predictions....I'm 0-1 right now after the Minny game. Headed surely towards 0-2 after predicting a Wisconsin win....People would make so much money if they'd go the opposite of what I'm choosing....

I don't think you're alone with your Minnesota prediction. You want to see something funny, go look at how many people in vBookie also went with Minnesota.

I couldn't be more disappointed with a program than I am with Minnesota. They didn't show up in the WCHA tourney, the LAST year of the Tourney before the Big 10 conference convenes, and they had to play catch-up to a nice, but clearly inferior Yale team before giving up an inexcusable goal in OT.

I'm still pissed. Between my alma mater not even making the tournament in Parker's last year and Minnesota bowing out now, I just have a big case of sad regarding this year's tournament.

My fandom is up for sale....for anyone but UND or BC.

Hard to believe UNH beat them in all three meetings. I can't help but wonder what UML's record would be had they not started so terribly.

I am really hoping UNH wins-if they can make it to the Frozen Four my daughter will get to travel to Pittsburgh with the pep band for the game(s).

It's a good feeling knowing that as a UNH fan. Our D can handle their attack and get some goals when needed. Right now they are in a groove and Hellebyuck is just playing out of his mind.
That's awesome for your daughter, man. I hope so too. The D's been great this year though at times a bit lethargic.

UML with another goal. What a pass there. He made it look sleazy easy.

Fantastic transition leading to the odd-man rush and goal for UML.

Yeah, they look like world beaters right now.

I can get it on my ipad using the ESPN app, but hockey on an ipad screen is like eating a cracker without peanut better.

6-1.

In their final year as the WCHA, the representative teams are off to a FANTASTIC start in the tourney, I tell ya.

It wasn't really that close either. Damn good team with a stud goalie. Dangerous combination. I think they are worried about UNH, but maybe that's wishful thinking.
