Ill take kessels game breaking speed and shot any day of the week. It's close but not that close.

Ask yourself who you want with the puck with 10 seconds left trying to tie up a hockey game?

A healthy Lupul has been better than Kessel for the last two seasons, easily.

Depends how ones defines "better" ?

Lupul scored 11 goals in 16 games and that pace would have won the Rocket Richard trophy, and was a force in almost every game he played.

Leafs were sliding until Lupul returned and took the team on his back and rallied them.

On talent one would probably pick Kessel on pure offensive ability.

Phil Kessel. I've watched enough of Lupul since his ducks days, where babcock ripped him in the training camp at a young age to him playing under carlye to know this.

However it wouldn't surprise to see Kessel lose this

I don't know how people can question Kessel's defensive game and then not say anything about Lupul's.

I'd say Kessel's pure offensive talent and speed makes him a better and more dynamic player overall.

No question that Kessel has more talent. We've seen this team nosedive without Lupul last year and even cave a bit this year without him.

But in the end, Kessel is the only play I want to have the puck on the Powerplay really he's too skilled a sniper to pass on

Kessel for sure, but it's closer than many think. Lupul's physicality , vision and finishing ability are a pretty elite package. We lucked out tbh, he was a project with tons of skill and he got it together with the Leafs. He is un-replaceable. But Kessel is just too good. back to back top 10 finishes in scoring is hard to argue against.

aka snipes i guess

Kessel just excels more

i love how it's, "when both are healthy who's the better player". Being healthy has soo much to do with being a better player, more than some people would realize. If kessel digged pucks out of corners, played more aggressive (like lupul does) etc. without a care for being injured , he would be even more better than he already is. However, chances are he would be constantly injured (again like lupul). in that case he would be destroying lupul in this poll (much better player when healthy). What im trying to say is being injury prone (playing recklessly)has a huge effect on how good you are so i dont know why your taking that out of the poll question.

anyways as you could probably guess from the above im saying that its gotta be kessel. Very happy to have lupul though!

Kessel on talent.

Love Lupul though, he's a game breaker.

even phil's biggest detractors couldn't say Lupul is a better player this isn't close, Lupul hasn't been on Kessel's level for any consistant time.
