Just out of curiosity, since I was in the kitchen just now and noticed some more junk mail advertising "home phone" service, and thought to myself, "Psh, who uses land lines at home anymore?"
If you don't, when was the last time you did have one? As for me, I've briefly had land lines in 2005 and 2008, when I was too broke/cheap to have a mobile phone instead, but each time it only lasted a few months and I decided I'd had enough.
Note that this poll is for your place of residence, I know businesses pretty much all have them.
Yes. And all we get are telemarketers and faxes. Stupid
Never pick it up
Yeah, there's one at my parents' house, but all they really get are telemarketers and faxes too. It's for their home business and they both have mobiles, and mostly don't even bother to place outbound business-related calls from the land line. I think most of their regular clients have their mobile numbers too.
I remember when I was a kid, people would call for my parents on the land line and I'd tell the other person that I'd pass on that they called.
They always got really mad at me because I honestly forgot 90% of the time, and since I was a kid I didn't think to write it down or anything. Nor did they ever think to get like a whiteboard or notepad and put it by the phone or anything. Might have helped out.
I just now remembered that I also had a land line for 6 months once when the local telco wouldn't sell me a DSL connection without home phone service as well. I bundled all their **** into one bill so the cost of the phone service was probably trivial in the end.
I literally never used it for anything. Didn't even connect a phone to the phone jack, just the DSL modem.
