I don't see why he would be against it, HRR would go through the roof. Announce it a year and half in advance...the build up would be unprecedented. and a lot of the revenue goes to further finance his Hockey in the Deep South agenda. Frankly, I don't give a s*** what he does with the revenue, he can buy a 100 million cannolis from the food truck outside NHL HQ for all I care.. I just want to see the games happen. It's high time such an event take place. It will be 10x better than 1972 ... but I'm too young to remember 72 anyhooooo.

BTW, the cannolis in NY. YUM.

Can you imagine.. Games 1 and 2 in the Madhouse on Madison. Games 3 and 4 Montreal. Game 5 on Broadway. Game 6 Calgary. Game 7 Denver.
It's got to happen at some point...either on the Senior Men's side or Juniors...but a best of 7 has got to happen...

I'll concede home ice advantage here, but the team who finishes better at the Olympics gets home ice... anyway...would be sweet either way. And in terms of a sporting spectacle, is a 100x more intriguing than any re-jigged World Cup.
This is how wars begin and Mr. Writer, I'm blaming you personally for the Great Norther Border war of 2022.

But Canada, I can't stay mad at you. You are the only people I can relate to as being as hockey obsessed as I am!

You bet, there's a little patch of land in Northern Maine I've been looking to annex forever....as soon as the first shot is fired I've got my flag ready to be planted. mostly for the maple trees and syrup.

And I think the results at the Sochi Olympics will go a long way in further pushing my agenda of a USA v Canada Summit Series. If either one or the other wins, then I think the chances of such a series being talked about in the right circles (decision makers) gets a boost.

1C is up in the air. I'd go with Kesler if healthy. 1G is definitely is Quick unless something crazy happens.

Well to an extent you want there to be chemistry between the lines. Frankly, I think Stepan would play way better with Parise and Kane. While Kesler with Ryan and Kessel.

Sure you want chemistry. We saw that in 2010 when they switched Kesler and Stastny because Stansty and Kane were not gelling together very well. I don't think designating any player as the first center is either accurate or important.

yes, good comment. i think my question missed my point - who are your top 2 Cs?...Kesler/Stepan?

w/ bylsma as the coach, do you have any idea what type of lines he'll run (and how he'll allocate playing time b/w the lines) in this type of tournament?

Our best center is probably Kesler when healthy, but he hasn't been himself since the Stanley Cup Finals year. Pavelski and Backes are both probably better than Stepan all around. Stepan might be the most creative and skilled center we have at the moment, but he's got some major faults.

I'm reading that you have a weird relationship with Jason Pominville.

Not yet. I don't think they've released it. I think they released it end of June or beginning of July last time around so it should be out soon if not already. Excited for it. Hopefully they release the jerseys too.

NHL participation is on for Sochi. I'd expect an announcement about Team USA soon as I'd imagine that was the holdup.

bah, Quick is only good when his team consists of 5 defensemen.

The Miller does what he does with no more than 1 competent defensemen on the ice at a time, and should be our goalie

As an LA Kings fan: you have no idea what you're talking about.

@chrismpeters: IIHF says provisional 25-player rosters (22 skaters, 3 goalies) for the men's side of the Olympic hockey tournament will be due Dec. 31.

Agreed. Craig Smith is an interesting choice. He's yet to put together a complete NHL campaign but is great internationally on the big ice. Dark horse? Poile is at the helm.
