I've been thinking long and hard. This deal would be a great one for both teams.

He's a great player. I wonder what San Jose wants for him? He would be a great addition to serve penalties for us.

Very fair deal for sure. But maybe add a bit from the Rangers side.

As an Oiler fan, I'm afraid to death of trading Yak and him ending up being a 40+ goal scorer for many years to come.

McD would be a huge upgrade, and we need a top pairing LHD badly.

I think in the end it could pan out for NYR. Yakupov could really be a star in this league once he gets going. This is the problem with trading high picks like him. The value is so hard to judge. He's still a prospect so people will say lower value compared to someone like McDonagh who is an absolute solid D -man who the Oilers would LOVE to have. But at the same time, 5-6 years from now Yakupov could be a top scorer in the league and his value could be higher.

I never know what to make of these types of trades.

I think Oil win this now, but NYR could win it later. Tough to predict. I don't see why NYR does it now though, Yakupov still has a lot of growing to do. You'd think they would want to stick with McDonagh for a playoff push.

#1 Overall, or, the guy that got traded with some other junk for Scott Gomez? Rangers take this and run.

Even when he does come back, the Rangers offensive problem won't be solved. Thus, this trade.
