Vanek to BOS

Per Haggs twitter @HackswithHaggs "Darcy Regier says the Buffalo Sabres top assets could be moved before April 3 trade deadline...." I'm sure Boston would have to overpay being in the same division but what it take to get Vanek? Would a combo of any of the following work?

Horton
Peverley
Boychuk
Bartkowski
Khokhlachev
Caron
Krug
Sauve
1st Rnd
2nd Rnd

Pandolfo

Toronto should be all over Vanek if he's available.

Lupul - Kadri - Vanek

MAGIC!!

And we can take on 7 million + as well.

I'd love to know what you think Toronto would realistically be able to offer for Vanek that Buffalo would accept.

A package involving Frattin + Gardiner +

You have to think Buffalo would be going towards a semi-rebuilding stance if they trade Vanek. We do have the assets to acquire him for sure, assets better than Boston IMO.

Sure we can. Discussion re-started.

You make the room for a player like Vanek.

Oh boy. Our choice of several of Boston's mid- to lower-level assets/pending UFAs to send our best player to a division rival? Where do I sign?

Let me know when you're serious about an offer. Don't expect one of the most prolific scorers in the NHL without offering top shelf stuff up.

That package doesn't even get things started. Start with Reilly

Personally, I'd only trade Vanek for a "knock your socks off" type of offer. So far, you're not blowing me away. I'd like to re-sign Vanek and keep him as part of the re-build.

Is there any combination of prospects/picks that could get it done?

What about something around Subban, Spooner and a 1st?

That's a bit too much.

I'd want to know who Buffalo would like to have. Both Gardiner AND Rielly won't go in the same deal.

Here's the offer:

Jake Gardiner
Matt Frattin
1st '13

for

Thomas Vanek

You want the elite first line LW with the 10th highest active gpg in the NHL , then you need to offer quality value. We don't want your overpaid 2nd/3rd liners and B rate prospects to go with your late 1st. You want Vanek? Hamilton+1st and I'd maybe consider it. You think that's too "steep" then your not getting Vanek. He is a legitimate top 5 LW in the game and an elite goal scorer. Hamilton is a top young player in the game yes, but what do you think Vanek was? An even better prospect at Hamiltons age that actually reached his potential and became one of the games best goal scorers. Not to mention Boston is a division rival. This isn't Jay Feaster and Vanek isn't Iginla who is 36 and has a NMC. Vanek is nearly 7 years younger and just as productive.

I'm highjacking this thread to make a sweet offer from Detroit:

Thomas Vanek
Ryan Miller

Gustav Nyquist
Landon Ferraro
Jimmy Howard
2013 1st
2014 1st

You're offering an adequate package to start talking but you'll need to give up Brendan Smith in any deal.

As far as Rielly goes, I guess its fair to ask for him but Gardiner and him are basically very similar and Gardiner is more NHL ready.

I'd like to keep Rielly though.

Jake Gardiner
Matt Frattin
Joe Colborne

for

Thomas Vanek

?

I want Pominville

What would it take from Buffalo's perspective?

I am thinking an offer similar to Iginla seeing as he's signed for another season and it's a division rival..

Whats the point of this trade? Downgrade in net and isnt Howard an impending UFA?! Detroit doesn't have the young talent on elcs or cheap contracts to even consider Detroit has a viable destination for even one of Vanek and Miller, let alone both.

Vanek will cost a kings ransom.

Toronto can start with Rielly.
Boston can start with Hamilton.

Nyquist is a very solid player and you'll regret not asking for him, hypothetically.
