If Letang is back, probably some combination with him, Malkin, Iginla, Kunitz, and Niskanen.

The setup would probably be:

Iginla---Kunitz---Malkin
Niskanen---Letang

Letang feeding pucks to Niskanen means Iginla can play the lower post game and Malkin, Kunitz can find him there as well.

I could see that. If Letang is back Tuesday, then it shouldn't be too bad... if he isn't, well, then we might have some problems.

No real line rushes but top 2 lines look like Kunitz-Malkin-Iginla, Morrow-Jokinen-Dupuis. #Penguins

Can't go wrong either way really.
Neal being out forces DB to put an element on Malkin's line we've all wanted there in the first place.

Kunitz, Morrow, Bennett.
Don't matter.

Pens Inside Scoop ‏@PensInsideScoop 5m

Kunitz & Malkin reunited -SK "@penguins #Pens lines/D-pairs: 14-71-12 10-36-9 24-16-48 15-27-19 44-4 41-5 2-3 58-47"

So DB has:

Kunitz-Malkin-Iginla
Morrow-Jokinen-Dupuis
Cooke-Sutter-Kennedy
Glass-Adams-Bennett(with Vitale/Jeffrey rotating)

Not bad but i would probably switch Morrow and Bennett in a game if Morrow doesn't fit there, or drop Kennedy to the 4th and Morrow to the 3rd with Bennett on the 2nd line.

I look at those lines and think that bylsma doesn't want any scoring on lines 2 thru 4. I could understand putting BB on the 4th line with a fully healthy lineup (in which Glass is scratched) but not with Sid and Neal out.

I think those lines are getting better, but what I'd like to see is:

Kunitz-Malkin-Iginla
Dupuis-Jokinen-Bennett
Morrow-Sutter-Cooke
Glass-Adams-Kennedy

That way when Crosby and Neal eventually return to the lineup there isn't as much shuffling that would have to be done.

Dupuis-Crosby-Iginla
Kunitz-Malkin-Neal
Morrow-Sutter-Cooke
Some combination with Jokinen at center and two of Glass, Adams, and Kennedy on the wings.

Since it looks like its possible Neal could be out for the playoffs id like to see these lines once Sid gets healthy

Kunitz-Sid-Dupuis
Morrow-Malkin-Iginla
Cooke-Sutter-Jokinen
BB-Adams-TK

I love the Defense on that 3rd line be a perfect line to play against other teams top line

I'm really concerned about the way this lack of chemistry is affecting Malkin.

Injuries+new lines are really confusing him. He looks super tentative. Now no Neal...if they don't find something before the playoffs, not even making it to the Eastern finals.

Sincerely,
A deeply concerned fan

I'm a giant Geno fan, I can tell he just isn't himself. Thinking way too much. Little to do with him as a player, lots to do with the circumstances.

Poor Beau. Might as well keep him down if he's gonna be skating with Adams and Glass.

I see his chemistry problems as mostly macro level chemistry problems. Neal - Malkin - Iginla was never going to work because the guys were wrong. I think any combination of Bennett/Kunitz/Morrow - Geno - Neal/Iginla will build chemistry in a matter of 2 or 3 games and look at least pretty good pretty much right from the start. I'm much more worried about the coach building a decent line for him than I am worried about how long they have to play together.

I share your concerns. DB needs to have a sit down with Malkins line. Clearly state the rolls. Tell them to shoot shoot shoot. They try to get too fancy way too often. None of them want to be the selfish guy who shoots. That's the problem.

Inho, lines should be.

Kunitz-Jokinen-Dupuis
Bennett-Malkin-Iginla
Morrow-Sutter-Cooke
Glass-Adams-TK

He needs to keep the Lines as close as possible. Bennett has enough time with Malkin for him to be there..

Here, here!

Admittedly though Iginla to RW and Kunitz to Malkin's line is a good start by DB.

Now we just need him to switch Duper to the left.

Putting Malkin, Neal, and Iginla on the same line was a bad move by Bylsma, but for a guy that makes $8.7 million, he needs to do better regardless.

Pretty much this.

I am really excited to see Kunitz-Malkin-Iginla as a line. I think it'll get the best out of all three players. Sure I don't 100% agree with the rest of the lines, but we are definitely moving in the right direction. Overall I am pleased.

DB said that Jokinen took over Neal's spot

Nice responses, I agree with all of them. I just hope it's not too late, they've taken a lot of steps backward.

Haha wow some people are so crazy. Where do you get any idea that Neal might be out for the playoffs?

It really was one of the dumbest things to try. Forcing Iginla to LW just to keep the top line together and so Iginla plays in the top 6.
These guys like Morrow and Iginla have said they'll do whatever it takes and play where ever.

Read that too. Really not a huge thing. Just forces Niskanen off PP1.

Iginla---Kunitz---Jokinen
Letang---Malkin

would be the setup.

That said, I could see trying Jokinen on Malkin's LW. By my count, he's the only one left who hasn't been tried there, and since the only one who worked (Bennett) is a rookie and thus disqualified from a longer stint there, I suppose it's Jokinen's turn.
