Joe Pavelski to Vancouver

San Jose is looking to shake things up and Vancouver desperately needs someone on the second line to play with Kesler.

Here is my proposal:

To Vancouver: Joe Pavelski
To San Jose: Mason Raymond, Brendan Gaunce, Conditional 1st Round Pick

Why San Jose does this: They are trading Clowe and are looking for more speed on the wings. Raymond is one of the fastest skaters in the NHL and has a knack of scoring goals. Would be a perfect fit on Thornton's line. They also get the Canucks first round pick from last year, Gaunce, who projects to be a 2nd/3rd line C. On top of all that, they get a conditional first round pick. If Raymond doesn't re-sign with them (UFA at season's end), they get a 1st. If he does re-sign, it's a 2nd.

Why Vancouver does this: Like I said, Vancouver needs someone to play with Kesler. Booth isn't cutting it and Higgins/Hansen are more 2nd/3rd line tweeners. By getting Pavelski, they can move Kesler to wing where he was effective when being centered by Mats Sundin a few years back. This would allow Kesler to shoot more with his great shot instead of trying to dish the puck to his wingers. Pavelski is signed for another year at $4M cap hit.

Yes that's why he hasn't been able to replicate his 40 goal season because he's trying to do too much (also injuries)

You offer San Jose two players they have no need for and have the nerve to make the only enticing piece (which isn't much) to your offer conditional? Take that one back to the drawing board.

What are you talking about? I gave a very valid reason as to why Raymond is valuable to the Sharks

Is Pavelski not playing on SJ's 3rd line? Behind Thornton and Couture?

Um...yeah no. Considering that I think Sharks-Blues fans agreed for a Pavs-Perron swap (maybe not straight up but whatever), I don't think we're going to trade Pavs to Vancouver for that lol

He is, and is on a 4 game goal streak centering a 3rd scoring line. It's not a punishment, it's making lines 1-2A-2B-4 instead of 1-2-awful-horribad.

Um... Yeah because the gm's are going to choose what the best offer is between fan bases right? It's about value, if it's way off or spot on. Who cares if STL FANS are willing to give Perron for Pavelski.

Okay. In this case, it's way off. We don't want Raymond, and we don't care about your 1st (let alone the fact that OP made it conditional).

Hey, that sounds like Patrick Marleau...except Marleau's much much better...and is already on the team...and wouldn't cost the Sharks Pavelski.

No. We are not in a position to be adding pieces for a cup run. We cannot afford to give up one of our few assets at center in Gaunce. We're either selling, or standing pat at the deadline this year.

Add Jensen to make the OP slightly less insulting

except he is cheaper. But i agree...no way Sharks give us Pavelski. Especially since we are going to be in the same division next year.

Technically he is. BUT he is doing amazing. Him and Clowe have been amazing and they are getting the most playing time.

Pavelski is a 30-30 center who was top ten in Selke voting last year

We're not trading him for your ****. We would want a young fast scoring winger for Pavelski but as of now, he's gonna remain a Shark. He's a 1B/2A center and he's twenty eight. He would command a whole lot more than this.
