Megan's tooth-to-face ratio is highly alarming.

Between Game of Thrones and Mad Men, what a great TV night.

In case anyone else missed it:

Quote:
It's a little thing, but male adultery, as represented by Ketchup or Don or, in last week's episode, Pete, is disgusting, damaging if not completely destructive. Business cheating also goes awry, with the plan to snag Heinz Ketchup behind the back of loyal Baked Beans falling apart. Both Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce and a Peggy Olson-led team from Cutler, Gleason and Chaough lose out to JWT, a miscalculation that will likely cost SCDP the beans.

I went from a 32" TV to a 51" and it's staggering, the ratio.

Loved that little comment from Don when Pete told him he could use his apartment.

I actively dislike Don now. He's not only a cheater, but he's an active hypocrite and that's nigh unforgivable. Also, he's getting more and more ****** at his work and his kids are nowhere to be seen so there's nothing redeeming about the man. He's worse than Tony Soprano.

It's an interesting theme though for Matt Weiner shows.

In the beginning of the show, you feel for Tony Soprano in the sense that you're rooting for him. But as the show goes on and on he does more deplorable things that just irk you to no end.

He's following the same system here with Don it would seem.

I guess we all know how Mad Men is going to end now

Spoil:
Don is sitting in his office at SCDP, the door to his office opens, Don looks up, cut to black

That's what makes him so interesting. He is such a complex character. Has a troubled past, obvious psychological and emotional baggage from his childhood that heavily influences his actions as an adult.

He is perfect for his job, but things are crashing around him every which way and we get to see how he reacts. He is bi-polar, capable of being extremely caring and thoughtful, and empowering to women (like with Joan), but then incredibly chauvinistic, domineering, and sexist when it comes to those he is intimate with, often referring to them and using them as prostitutes, which, again, have obvious connections to his past.

Anything can happen at the drop of the hat for Don, and just as you think he is predictable, he does something unpredictable. He's an interesting character and it is fascinating to see what he is going to do as the hardships, complications, and problems arise more and more around him.

What an episode. Gotta love Don, even with all his faults.

As for speculating how it ends, my brother always says that he is gonna jump out of his office window like the opening.

I am sort of glad suicide was already used on a major character as I feel that prevents it from being in play for Don.

Maybe the husband of a woman he shacks up with murders him?

No kidding. That girl was cute as hell, though. Who mentions being a virgin during dinner on date 1? hahaha.

That insurance guy was cracking me up.

I also don't want kids. Now I can tell women I have Don Draper on my side.

From what I took out of that, Don seems to "hate" the babies, but when they grow up the pretend love turns into real love. We've now had some truly real scenes between Sally and Don, and Bobby and Don. I'd say in every facet of his life, aside from marriage, Don Draper is still a character that you can root for.

I couldn't hear at all during the awards party what the guy in the crowd was yelling. I rewound it and watched it three or four times and still couldn't make it out. I figured he was yelling that Bobby Kennedy was shot, since that's who they were talking about. To my surprise, it was the MLK shooting. They gave all that character building on Dawn in the other episode, but she was an afterthought in an episode that I thought would have been wiser to use her more. Or perhaps that was the point?

Pete Campbell on his high horse. Bert Cooper laying down the law.

Ginsberg, what a failure. I loved when his father was like "are you going to go on the ark with your father!?"

EDIT - I love AdAge's reviews of Mad Men

I think his outrage was genuine.

I liked the bit where he called Trudy, the contrast between the JFK assassination which brought the two of them closer to each other and repaired their then struggling relationship and this time where it almost pushes Trudy away even further is staggering.

Also loved Don's put-down towards Henry at the end. "He's not that important"

Joan's and Dawn's awkward hug. Considering the magnitude of the MLK's death had with the black people, I expected to see more reaction's from them and we got to see was Peggy's co-worker, the cooks at Ginsberg's restaurant and Dawn for a minute. Bobby Kennedy's assassination is two months away in the show, we'll see what the reaction for that will be.

Pretty much. Pete intrigued me the most this episode. He deserves it, but it was the first time I've felt pity for him throughout the series. He's now realizing what his actions cost him. He's secluded and now even the take out man will speak to him, regardless of the fact that he didn't speak English His outrage over the event was quite unexpected. I had a feeling, as that scene started, that he would be the one to say something insensitive. Quite the turnaround.

Also loved that Henry line from Don at the end there as well. This was my favorite episode of the season so far.

The way they bring up historical events is great, you can react with the character. They catch the audience off guard. Yes you know roughly what time period they are in but not the exact date, just like the Kennedy assassination, you know it happened but don't know when they drop these huge events into the storyline.

LOL that was classic Campbell.

But how is this merger going to be anything but a disaster? We know how Don works, we've seen it for six seasons. There are going to be way too many chefs in the kitchen for Don's liking now, and it's going to cause a lot of problems.

Perhaps it was an impulsive move to "pay back Joan" for ruining what she had worked for. A way to almost make it right perhaps?

Not sure what to think here...

Roger getting new business with the Stewardess though was awesome. And Don still doesn't know the truth about Vicks.
