The Islanders live and die with the Powerplay. Lately it's been dead. I hope they worked on the Powerplay because if there is another PP performance like the last game they will not make the playoffs. Obviously Boyes is the biggest problem, but all have shown a frustrating reluctance to shoot and charge the net.

Forwards are the same per Staple, Reasoner is IN.

Lee is going to require a practice or two to learn our systems.

Devils are 8th worst in times shorthanded (very surprising, they're usually much more disciplined), 11th worst in PK%, and 10th worst in PP%.

Isles stay out of the box more, are better on the PP, and are about even shorthanded.

The Devils have a really big incentive to stay out of the box tonight.

Time to exploit Salvador and Zidlicky as both seem to be susceptible to taking minors.

BTW, I disagree about the PP. The problem is that the league was, for a while, playing heavy pressure against our power-play. That clearly did not work, especially with Visnovsky and Streit on the points. So, most opposing teams swapped it up for a tight box to take away the point shot. I think the boys will adjust, and send more pucks in from sharper angles, looking for rebounds.

I'd like to see Boyes take more shots low and on net in the PP.

that sucks.. reasoner has been here for two years so when is he going to learn our systems? or maybe he just can't execute them.. recognizing he is going to play tonite, i hope this is the last time i ever see him in an islander uniform.

if joensuu is any example it will be next season before we see lee then...

Is Jiggs calling the game tonight?

Howie's calling the Mets game, and I'm guessing he won't be back the rest of the season considering hockey is going into late April this year.

This game is a must win if they are to keep up with the Devils.

I actually thought carkner played pretty well and has a physical presence we severely lack.. i don't disagree that Martinek is better but as a D group hate that we are so small, so assume carkner will be in when we need a little more size.

We've seen some nice streaks where the Islanders were very good on the PP, and we've seen bad streaks (note the last few games). If you look at the Islanders PP as a whole for the season, it has been good. However, there have been many games that the PP has hurt them. The other day against the Penguins we had a 5-3 PP and a 5-minute PP. No score, few shots. There was a game a few weeks ago that we had a 5 on 3 for two full minutes and had ONE shot.

No reason Howie can't do them both. Mets are home for a day game, then he can head to the rock tonight. If the mets were opening on the road would be a different story. Although I love the nostalgia of hearing Jiggs, and am happy to have jiggs pitch-hit when howie has conflicts, Howie is better than Jiggs at this point in time.

Not saying that's what will happen though.

Its always nice to here Jiggs!

Win tonight and a Rangers loss puts us in 8th and 2 pts behind the Devils.

I'm relatively sure I read through Eric Hornick's "Skinny," that Jiggs will be doing the game tonight, but don't quote me on that.

An Isle win in regulation puts real pressure on NJ and the NYR. Also, the Flyers and Caps are breathing on the isles heels.

Let's go isles

Love when Jiggs calls the games, brings back memories of the good ol' days.

I have to admit Howie has slowly grown on me, even though he still is a closet Rangers fan.

One of my favorite lines from Howie came on Fight Night vs the Pens: "Its been the Foxwoods Final Five for the last half hour"

Not sure if any of you were the one that asked Butch but he believes Jiggs is calling the game tonight.
