But why? He's the same age as Clowe. We need to get younger and faster.

One time he and Rob Blake sat at my table just before Giants game, and I too was surprised by how quiet & well mannered Clowe was. Nice guys, both of them.

Not really. DW decides whether or not Clowe is even traded. He doesn't have to be and even though Clowe has some control, he doesn't have total control.

You need to be more specific
UFA ? NTC ?

RC can do whatever he likes...
Unless you are sitting in he back office and know for sure where he will or will not accept to go to.

Clowe can't just decide to quit the team and join some other team so no he doesn't have full control. It's up to both to accept a deal so neither has full and total control.

Did you just crawl out from a hole? This was already covered. Clowe's agent has been in touch with DW and reportedly there are a few teams he's willing to waive his NTC for. So, in that case, it isn't an exact parallel to Iginla's situation where clearly Feaster didn't check beforehand with Iggy if he was fine with the Bruins

Weren't they just going to waive him if he didn't waive his NTC? And Atlanta would have claimed him?

RC 'can' do whatever he wants, but all signs point to him doing whatever's best for the team right now. He has several teams he'd waive for, allowing DW the freedom of a bidding war. He is willing to do a sign and trade if that's what seems best. He's being a team player about this.

most likely yup, so it was be traded or go to atlanta/winipeg for 5 years at the end of your career.

clowe isn't so bad, it is basically rot on the bench for the next 3 months, or be traded.

It was tweeted earlier that Sharks and Clowe are on the same page about interested teams. Basically he's ok with any of the teams that Wilson is currently negotiating with. As long as there is more than one than it's not anything like the Iginla situation.

Doug Wilson still has to accept the trade regardless of whether Clowe wants to go somewhere else. If he says no, that's fine but it doesn't mean that there will be another acceptable deal out there. They have to work together if they want a deal done.

Clowe has been injury prone lately, he might just want to make sure he cashes in on a 16-25m contract (and is willing to do so with the mentioned teams). An injury might mean a 2 year 8m deal instead.
