Tbh I have a feeling Moose is done. He had zero confidence during our slump.

i would much rather Bernier or even Mason (because of the cost to acquire) than to give big assets for Schneider

We are still in a playoff spot despite underachieving badly. This team has enough depth to scrape together some wins (or even loser points) to get into the playoffs and get our big gun back (hopefully sooner). Add maybe another scoring piece if possible and get in the big dance. It's a new season at that point and guys who have struggled (Zajac, Henrique, Clarkson, Elias, etc) will be able to reboot and have fresh starts.
Barely still in the playoffs and there's still time to get knocked out the way they're playing. And all that other stuff is wishful thinking. This isn't last year's team.

Sometimes even Lou needs to look at the big picture. Marty isn't in his mid 30's anymore, we already traded away our 3rd & 5th round picks, what are we giving up to improve our 2nd & 4th? We also have no 1st in 2014. Just my opinion.

dont want kopecky. top 6 player or nothing. im a larsson doubter and i woundnt even consider trading him for anything less than a young top line player. anything less would be retarded. how could you give up on a player like that?

Have a feeling we aren't going to do anything.

At the very least we should try to see if anyone wants our bad contracts.

5'11" 170 lbs.
43% faceoffs
injury prone
healthy scratch

as someone else has said, we already have one of these anyways and Josefson was rated a B compared to Burmistrov a C.
Dam NHL.com regardless I wouldn't mind seeing this kid in a Devils uniform. He has the potential to be a special player.

This team went into the season flawed. 8 NHL d-men and maybe 4 top 6 forwards. That is on Lou. This can still be last year's team when healthy if we can add one more piece (like Hemsky, Tanguay, Poms, etc.). That would move everyone into their place (CBGB to the 4th line, Poni and Clarkson on the 3rd, etc.). This team is not that far away from being one of the deepest in the league again. After that, it would all depend on luck and guys starting to click in the stretch run, both of which are things that are more likely to happen if everyone is back to the roles that they were in towards the end of the season last year.

As far as what we give up, I am open to giving up one of our d-men (Tallinder, Volch, Fayne) as well as any prospect not named Merrill or Boucher and any picks later than the 2nd round. You don't think that a package of Matteau/Josefson, Tallinder/Fayne, 3rd/4th could fetch a 2nd line player? That is all we need. For Poms, I am willing to give up more.

Plus, we're very weak in prospect forwards and not many picks in our pocket, they should move Elias and Clarkson with the understanding that they will try to re-sign both in off season. That's how we can get better for the future. Devils had their magically run last season; I just don't see it happening this season. Sorry but that's the way I see it.
I was thinking the same exact thing. This really makes the most sense. If Elias and Clarkson want to be a part of this organization they can sign this summer. In the mean time we get valuable assets and improve this team.

Agreed, save some cap space for next year at least to go after a free agent forward.

Is that really the first trade of the day?

Also nooooo to Steve Mason. I'm more confident with Moose than Mason. In a backup role Moose will likely look a lot better than when he was starting. Mason doesn't look good ever except for one season his rookie year. Bobrovsky is far beyond proving that much right now. I'd rather have Bryz as our backup if he gets bought out by the Flyers than Mason. I liked Bryz before he went to Philly, and I think he'd be a lot better playing somewhere else. Bob also looked BAD playing behind that putrid Flyers defense too.

And trading Patty?!? OMFG c'mon. He is one of this team's legends. It would gut the fanbase to see him in another jersey. I don't give a **** if we get back a first rounder (more likely to draft another Teddy than Parise with that). I would be sick to my stomach seeing Elias in anything but a Devils jersey. He is retiring here.

Burmi is going to be a good player. He's already very good defensively, he's fast, an he can actually carry the puck. He may not be the most attractive option, but I think he's exactly what we need

I don't see how this 8 defensemen thing helped. Fayne sat for over 3 weeks, Tallinder was the only guy who missed any significant time due to injury, Larsson has been a healthy scratch way more times than he should be. It's a joke, and I can't justify it. Suppose we do get into the playoffs then I can see it really being a merry go round there if everyone is healthy.

What does Winnipeg want for him? Definitely can't see them wanting Larsson or Henrique, but maybe Fayne. I'm not sure they'd trade him since they're in first, but they're really falling apart with Washington two points behind and with two games in hand.

Why's it so slow? It's in 2 hours the deadline. It's almost like it opened up at Noon EST like UFA!
