Montreal's moves at the trade-deadline

I wanna talk about a few moves the Montreal Canadiens might be making at this trade-deadline. So, the team needs are a 3-4rth line depth crash and bang type of player, who is responsible defensively. Possibly a top-6 winger since Bourque might be out for the season I.E: Jagr. And possibly a rugged defenceman, someone who can play around 15minutes a night I.E: Stoner. This has been talked about quite often, but since the dead-line is approaching I want to summarize the teams needs and possible trades.

Proposal:
Trade Number 1:

Leblanc
2nd round pick(Cgy)
5th round pick
Armstrong

Jagr
Nystrom

I made a whole thread talking about this trade, most fans agreed upon it, and seemed to see it as a fair trade, value wise.

Trade Number 2:

Weber
3rd round pick

Stoner

To summarize, habs add a top-6 winger, a bottom 6 winger, and a bottom pairing defenceman. Add size and grit along with experience. Without giving up major prospects and only a fraction of the plethora of picks this season.

Counter-proposals are welcome

I'm surprised you didn't include Nathan Beaulieu in any of these deals since you feel the need to trade him.

Not really a fan of giving away calgarys pick could get a quality guy for the future at that spot

I like Nathan Beaulieu and I'm a big fan of him. But he won't have a solid spot on the roster until we lose either Diaz or Markov, which might take a few years.

Won't take more then 2 and even then after Markovs contract he's a 4-5th dmen an pp specialist

Not happening from a Dallas perspective, you picked the two guys we would like to keep around.

2 years is too long for a player of his talent, he's 20 years old by the way, not 17.

What are you talking about, it might take him 2 years jsut to be ready for the NHL. We have a glaring hole in our system for a LH offensive d-man for the second powerplay unit. Bouillon's contract finishes in the next offseason and that will be the time Beaulieu comes into the mix as a full time player. Diaz is also right handed and plays RD which won't affect Beaulieu. There is room for Beaulieu whether you admit it or not.

This really shows how much you know about him... 2 years is too long for a player of his talent? He'll be in the NHL when his defensive game is ready.

Would love to see Jagr united with Plek on the same line for a playoffs rush. Since Dallas is still in the race for a playoffs spot, not sure they would want to move him.

What's your point? That's Bergevin's philosophy, he's not ready right now to play full time in the NHL and probably won't next year that's why Bergevin signed Bouillon to an extension. Let your players develop and when his defensive game is where it should be you get him to play for your team. Stop being childish and talk about hockey.

In a perfect world it would be nice to get Stoner for Weber and a third. But for one Weber has very little valu. Stoner on the other hand is valued highly by the Wild. If you could draft a Stoner with a third, you will have done good. I would love to have him but your not getting him for that.

He had to say something out of context to try to insult since he wasn't making any sense. I guess having too many good defenders is a sin or something. Especially when they're not ready yet to make the jump full time to the NHL.

I wouldn't mind adding more to that deal, maybe next year's 3rd aswell. Stoner would be the ideal fit for Montreal, unfortunately for us, the Wild is doing good this season and might need him for the playoffs.

There isn't many rugged defencemen left.

Emelin plus Leblanc for Smid ( resign 5yrs 20million )
Bourque and a Montreal 2nd for Clarkson ( resign for 4yrs 19 million )
Desharnais and Weber for Clowe ( resign 4yrs 18 million )
Ryder for Stoner
Bournival for Bordeleau
White and Patyrn for boll

Clarkson - Plekanac - Gionta
Patches - Eller - Gallagher
Clowe - Galchenyuk - Prust
Moen - Halpern - Boll
Bordeleau

Markov - Smid
Subban - Georges
Diaz - Stoner
Tinordi - Boullion

Price - Budaj

I would prefer to pick up Smid, Clowe and Clarkson in free agency but we can afford this makeover.

Ryder for Stoner is ridiculous at this point. Ryder is producing and fitting in well with our roster. Bournival for Bordeleau is a joke too. You trade a good prospect for a 13th forward scratch to bring in to play the rough teams. That is pointless.

White and Patyrn for boll. I would do this deal. I'm not sure about Columbus, but it is something that is close in value.

I'd like Smid I think he would be a good fit. Emelin + Leblanc seems fair for what he brings. But to give up two guys for an upcoming UFA is very risky if you ask me.

Yeah they would all have to be contingent on resigning. I know that's not possible. They would be good targets in free agency. I'd take Stoner as a consolation prize instead of losing Ryder for nothing. I think if you gave Bordeleau a chance he would be better than you think. I love having Galyenchuk back at center with two wingers like Clowe and Prust. I think that would be a tough team to play against and all the skill guys would see an improvement in performance because of the added muscle providing protection and opening up space.

Actually, in discussions I have had on here with Wild fans, we usually agree on Weber and a 2nd for Stoner. I wish it could happen in the real world as Stoner represents the EXACT kind of d-man we NEED.

I'm pretty sure Bergevin would be targeting a defenceman for the days to follow. We just waived Kaberle, and we gave trials to Tinordi and Pateryn, I thought they didn't do bad, better than Kaberle. But obviously are still in the work, no surprise there. Beaulieu is auditioning tonight but he will be sent down to Hamilton.
