Iginla only wanted to go to one team in the end. And Pittsburgh knew this. Kinda limits what you can get back.

I'm glad Boston is out of the running, but what the hell do Sharks fans want for him? Every reasonable offer has been snubbed by Sharks fans..

You are also forgetting that Feaster's hands were tied in the iginla trade (and that he's an idiot)

As a Rangers fan, I'd be very fine with Clowe going to Philly or Montreal.

Clearly he is trying to sign an extension before the trade happens. This will increase his value from a rental to a player the team will have under contract passed this year. So the comparisons to rental players is not really relevant

Would moving Kristo, a guy they drafted 5 years ago who has done nothing, really hurt the Habs? I'd rather get a proven player in Clowe who fills a need.

The thinking is, we are going to make the playoffs, Clowe is more valuable to us even for one playoff run than some worthless prospect and a mid round pick that has very little chance of turning into an NHLer.

The deal has to include something that is a 'sure thing' some NHL ready prospect, a pick with decent odds of yielding an NHLer, etc.

Or you can look at it a complete different way. Whatever team has to pony up is taking a huge risk

"Reasonable offers" have been utter garbage. Which others are justifying by saying this is the best you can get. Which would be ok for a team desperate to trade him. But the Sharks are ok with not trading him if the best he can net is garbage. He might as well be the Sharks' rental for free.

Idk why this is so hard to comprehend. Instead there will be many more proposals of garbage going to SJ and people going lol 0 goals won't get more.

If they are willing to sign him to a new contract, they obviously feel he is worth it.

You judge a player on his career averages. Clowe is a 50-60 point, 15-20 goal 2nd line tough as nails forward. That is what you are getting. You don't judge a player based on his point totals in a shortened lock-out season when he was injured for 2/3rds of the season.

Well if you're renting him out for that year, yeah I guess you would look at that lockout season then.

The zero goals is a factor though as is his injury status. You can't just ignore both of them. I'd love to have Clowe but it's definitely as risk to acquire him given his year so far. His value is lower than it was last year, for example.

i don't know why your people are. The majority of hockey fans don't watch the Sharks, so they don't know what kind of game he brings so they really have to just go by stats, which to some degree is fair. If they're not wise enough to look at his past stats or watch him actually play, then just how are you going to convince them?

Lets face it, he's worth a bag of pucks...on hf

Let's do this another way.

Let's presume for a minute Clowe was having a career average season right now. Removing this year (and his first year which was not a full season) from the equation that puts Clowe at: 377 games, 101 goals, 269 points. So, .71 ppg, .27gpg average.

This season, that would be:
28GP, 20 points, 7 goals.

So right now he is about 9 points of his average, and 7 goals. It's a fact that he had a shoulder injury, it's also pretty common knowledge he had a leg injury as well (since he was limping around for awhile). Are you really proposing we base his value on being short 9 points while playing injured and after no camp and not playing hockey during the off season? Only being off by 9 points sounds pretty damn good to me.

Generally true, but when you're combining his current production, injuries and the fact you have to shell out a whole lot of cash, it should make you think twice.

Canucks offer a donut to match the amount of goals Clowe has scored.

In all seriousness though this seems like just an off year for him with the shortened season.
