Garrioch and Lawless were also the only two that said the Jets were in the bidding for Handzus. So who knows.

IMO.
So... Antoine Vermette then? Decent speed, good for 50-60 points, wins faceoffs, good in defensive zone.

Hard to imagine Burmi getting traded without an overpayment.

2 opinions so far, Garrioch and Lawless. I don't tend to take either seriously.

Burmistrov really needs the change of scenery but Winnipeg is not going to sell him cheap. Can't see a lot of teams that could pay the required price.

Burmi for Sergei Kostitsyn + 4th

Jets fill a top-6 role with a two-way, 20-goal scorer who needs a change of scenery like Burmi does.

This has Devils written all over it.

Smart, two-way center, good skater, needs a change of scenery. Apparently Lou is dangling a 1st looking for a forward.

Zajac/Loktionov/Henrique/Burmistrov is sexy as hell down the middle.

I imagine asking price would be a pick and a roster player. Not too interested in UFA rentals. Just throwing that out there.

Here's the issue with this; don't you guys have to forfeit either this year or next's 1st round choice? And isn't the draft in NJ either this year or next? I don't think Lou moves the pick just yet without having some idea of what his team is doing. Although NJ is the team that came to mind for Burmistrov - allows him to develop slowly and sheltered, his native countryman Kovalchuk is there, and NJ has that defensive mindset where he should do well.

Burmistrov for Josefsen+?

People need to give these "middle-6 player plus 2nd/3rd" proposals a rest. Burmistrov is still one of the top players from his draft class. The fact he was rushed hasn't hurt his potential too much IMO and as such his value is still not that far from a top-10 pick. He's not a good fit for Winnipeg's system but I could see him having immediate success elsewhere.

The only trade that really makes sense is if they got another struggling young player with high upside in return. That's not exactly a deadline type of deal either.

Signed. That's what I hope will be the reason he is not dealt.

I know it's Garrioch again, but this would be the biggest trade today of ot happens.

Yeah, the 2013 draft in in New Jersey and we need to forfeit either 2013 or 2014.

I would be down with Burmistrov for Josefson+. A fresh start would do wonders for Josefson.

Then the Jets need to hold onto him. So far, he's come out awesome the first 20 games or so and has then gone invisible. If his asking price is very high based on upside, then maybe he's just being dangled to see if anyone bites.

I think he's hardly even being dangled, as I think everyone would love to "buy low" because they think Chevy thinks less of him after this year, but I doubt that is the case.

I do however think he'll probably listen to all offers and if somebody really wants to overpay, he'll do it. That's the only time the Jets who are VERY keen on building from draft, and on young guys right now, would trade a 21 year old with Burmi's upside.

Would a 1 for 1 trade of Gardiner for Burmistrov work for both teams?
