Hey guys I was just on NHL.com looking at the best dmen point wise and something shocked me.... Ehrhoff has 17 points but stands out with a plus 10, on a team that is a minus 19 in goal differential. Ehrhoff started the season off slow in producing points but recently reversed that, he has been solid all year. To compare him to other dmen he is a plus one away from subban and Letang both on teams that win night in and night out and both are in the conversation for Norris, with that being said I do not believe that hoff should win the Norris but I thought I'd give him some well earned credit.
If somehow they squeeze into the playoffs (even post-trade deadline blow-up, hopefully), he'll get some votes.
If not, nobody will care.
There's an Oliver Ekman-Larsson, who just might be the best D in the league right now, and he'll get overlooked no problem if Phoenix miss out on the postseason.
So, similar position, much better player with OEL.
If you look up his advanced stats, there are few defensemen in the league who have as big an impact on their team as Ehrhoff has this year (league leading Corsi Rel if you eliminate guys with less than 10 GP). While logging ~25 minutes a night.
He won't get any recognition in Norris voting, I'm sure, but he's been fantastic this year.
