that's ok. Vanek was picked 6th. We only had the 10th selection (Kostitsyn).
It isn't as bad as when Houle and co. picked ward (11th) instead of Hossa (12th) or even Chouinard ahead of his teammate Gagné.

I understand the Kostitsyn has a tender ankle. Apparently nothing serious. If you live in the Greater Hamilton area, the game is be televised on their local community station Cable 14. For those that reside in Burlington/Oakville you can watch it on TV Cogeco 23. As you already know, Danis was given the night off. The play-by-play fellow, Todd Crocker, stated he's impressed how Higgins has fought through tight checking more often this year. A good sign.

Vanek was picked 5th and Michalek was picked 6th.I've often seen him play when he was a gopher.Sometimes , he's unstoppable and sometimes he's floating too much it's kinda boring to much him play when he's being lazy.We had absolutley no chance to draft him , we could have moved up but still the sabres would have asked a lot.Vanek had A TERRIFIC FRESHMAN YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it's not only for that , that he was picked so early it's also because of his size. When this guy is using his size to crash to the net , he's unstoppable. He's the kind of power forward we lack.Vanek isn't shy and not afraid to throw the body.

What I don't like of Kostitsyn is that he's shy and doesn't approach the net to take quality shots. He seems to be nervous and shooting as soon as he's getting the puck.Hopefully , confidence will come with time. When he'll have a bigger role , imo he'll get more comfortable. In term of development , Vanek is waay ahead , Kosty has still a long ways to go.Kostitsyn never played N-A style of hockey before and Vanek played in a pretty physical league (WCHA)before going to the AHL.Vanek's gonna be in the sabres roster when the NHL will resume......no doubt.

Anyways , I'm happy with Kosty.I've seen Vanek play alot and I wanted him since day one.

Ivanans already flattened Brandon Smith in the first period. Rochester just scored.
