Michael Grabner to San Jose

What would it take for the Sharks to acquire him? I know the Islanders are not considered sellers at this point as they are battling for a playoff spot. But could he be available? The Sharks could use another top 6 player that can score and bring speed to the line up. Thing is, I don't exactly know what the Islanders would be looking for in return.

What we have now is....

To San Jose:
Michael Grabner

To New York Islanders:
???

I agree. Grabner is part of the Islanders core and is on a very good contract.

Lol...Grabner is apart of their core, and he's definitely not getting moved for either one of your scraps and a 2nd.

Demers is anything but a scrap. He's played solid two way second pairing minutes and done well. If either would be considered a scrap it'd be Braun, but that's a stretch.

No but Faust .... Not available I am sure. To get a player as dynamic as Grabner the Isles are getting a haul right now.he has game changing speed and is getting stronger on his defense. It would take a Faust to get the Isles interested.

Are you ****ing ******** me? Yeah, let's trade the 29-year-old Vezina caliber goaltender under contract for another two years at less than $4M plus a solid #4 25 year old two-way D locked up cheap for Michael Grabner. Way to undo all the good that was done today.

Niemi is not a Vezina calibre goaltender. Hes a good one but he is 29 years old now. Islanders core needs a 22 year old goalie to fit into their generation.

You can keep your stars. Watch a game soon in which Grabner is on. His speed changes the defense an can open up some lanes. He kills penalties among the best in the NHL. Isles want a younger goalie and have the Sharks old goaltender, who may be back again.

And really no offense, but the team is growing every game, I doubt they will trade anyone unless Snow gets something back he can't resist.

Niemi is definitely a Vezina caliber goaltender this season, but let's be honest the right system is in front of him and he's excelling. He's far from an elite goaltender. If the right trade came up I'd package him while his value is high. Furthermore, losing Demers would be painful, but Grabner is a rare commodity in his own right.

I'd do that at the draft, not now.

Funny, since he's playing like one this season.

Yeah. Laugh when he's not 3rd among goaltenders who've played more than 20 games in save percentage.

Did I ever mention somewhere that Grabner wasn't a quality player? You seem to think that I was somehow putting him down. I think he's the Isles second best forward and that he's often getting shafted in terms of linemates and ice time. But he's not worth the Sharks' MVP.

No thank you. I've been a big Grabner critic in the past, but now he's just too valuable to the lineup in a 3rd line role & PK.

Of course not. Why do the Isles want to give part of their core for your scraps or bottom pairing defensemen? Why not try asking yourself that question before offing that garbage low-ball offer?

Or how about Boyes + 2nd for Havlat?

Grabs isn't getting traded. Obviously not untouchable but you gotta put a lot on the table to even get Snow to consider imo.

You lost me at that

He's playing good, but come on...he won't even be one of the top 3 candidates, take your homer glasses off.

Grabner is probably exactly what the Sharks need, but I don't see why the Isles would trade him. His speed is really a sight to behold. Give that man some better hands and he's a 50 goal scorer. I think he averages like 3 breakaways per game, and not by cherry picking.

The only thing I'm interested in from San Jose is Vlasic. With that being said, I think we can shut the door on any negotiations.
