No to all of this, especially the part that is already dead.

The timing of the move seems odd: Ballard hurt, Bieksa playing through an injury, Connauton traded (that last one isn't very relevant, I guess, as it didn't look like he was close to being called up).

When Joslin was moved from the Wolves, it was originally said that he was "reassigned" rather than traded. Is he still Canucks property? Could he be recalled for that 8th D spot?

We have to be getting a D-man from somewhere.

Thank fking god! Barker looked like a lost puppy in his own zone. Except a puppy would probably have more bite. Amazing he was drafted as high as he was.

I don't understand the joy here. Yes he should have been our 8th or 9th D man, and for SGAR he was played ahead of Ballard, but that sure wasn't his fault. All the best to him. I thought he did what he was supposed to for the right price. No need to throw him under the bus. That being said, it would be great if this move is to pick up a more suitable 7-8 D man for the last 12 and playoffs

Joslin is still Canucks property. I'd rather he be up with the Canucks over Barker instead.

If Barker clears, I pity the Wolves goalie who has to play behind him and Vandermeer.

Yes, I wish him the best and for a 7th-8th d he is somewhat adequate. I am just amazed at how far he's fallen from 3rd overall pick.

Barker is so valuable/good in NHL 13, it's weird...played well as a 8/9 d-man but really shouldn't be in the lineup come playoff time so no issue with this

To be fair, he didn't play too bad.

Not sure why, but I only got really irritated with Barker for the first time in last nights game against San Jose. Maybe Gillis was able to read my mind from his new mind lab and waive him after sensing my frustration.

it's funny cuz barker was probably more physical yesterday than in any of his previous outings this season combined, then he gets waived

He was absolutely lost last night. There was one shift where the Sharks were in our end for about a minute and Barker was skating in circles looking completely lost in no man's land while poor Tanev was busting his ass trying to pick up the slack. This was the worst I've seen any NHL d man play all year. IMO the shift that cost him his job.

he's lost every night, i'm just saying it was surprising to see him actually throw a couple hits last night

Does this mean a trade for a dman is coming? Gilman did hint that there could be a move for a bottom pairing guy

Makes sense. Hopefully we can do better for an 8th D-man heading to the playoffs. Gillis loves picking up depth guys at the deadline, and Barker has clearly been...not good enough. If this team wants to be contender calibre...there is no room for Cam Barker potentially sneaking into the lineup for playoff games.
