Don't get me wrong, he's a solid addition, and the Bruins win this deal value-wise. ...But at 41, a better playoff player than Iginla? Not buying that at all.

Iginla hasn't played a playoff game in 3 seasons. Who's to say he'll show up come the playoffs this year?

Payne is a good prospect..Mcdermid?not so much but he still has time to figure it out and become a good 4th liner.

It was a good trade.

Boston just got much better. Jagr goes into beast mode during the playoffs- i doubt he will disappoint, especially with such a balanced team around him. Whoever has to face the Penguins or Bruins in the first round will have a very tough time.

I'm pretty sure both Chara and Jagr speak English fairly well along with the rest of the team.

Why would that matter? Does he all of a sudden lose experience after some time out of the playoffs?

This is sweet. I hope Boston and Jagr eliminate the Pens in the playoffs.

Look at our top-9 now:

Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin
Lucic-Krejci-Jagr
Daugavins/Caron/Paille/Pandolfno-Peverley-Horton

Not only does it give us a scorer, it drastically improves our 3rd line which has been struggling immensely with the addition of Horton. Hopefully Kelly is back by the playoffs, and Soderberg has a very high chance of coming over really soon. Our depth is going to be crazy. We also gave up nothing that we'll miss.

Jagr is going to provide more to Boston than Iginla would've. Just my opinion but overall, I think it's a better move.
How so? Forgetting the price to acquire either player, their skill set is different. Iginla is more of a sniper, and can still skate. Jagr has slowed down, but is more of a passer who can think the game at a high level. Both can provide veteran leadership (although this is something Pittsburgh would likely benefit from more than Boston).

You'll have to forgive us for not taking your word on this. You have after all had the Bruins as a terrible team ever since you joined HFBoards. With your track record, it's a little hard to take you seriously.

Every single season is supposed to be the year "the lucky Bruins fall apart" according to you.

Or if you realize that the Pens can barely keep their stars on the ice. Are prone to defensive lapses. Have a goalie with the ability to lose a playoff series all on his own. Bruins are a deeper more well rounded team.

Btw not quite sure what you even said. Perhaps English isn't your first language?

No, I'm saying I really really really don't want that to happen, not that it's impossible.

If Jagr was such a great pickup today, why didn't Boston target him first instead of Iginla? Was Chiarelli asleep at the wheel??
